    kids could really help a struggling bush school with their numbers I know the new baby coming in April and one that will be 2 in August won t help My oldest will be 5 in September of next school year and I have another that will be 3 1 2 Do these 2 count Thanks in advance for the help TheCousins Posts 4 Joined Wed Oct 22 2014 6 39 pm Top Re Small Schools in Need of 10 Students by Johncn Fri Sep 25 2015 12 23 pm Hi In general because the age range of compulsory attendance is 7 16 schools are not required to have and are not paid for preschool programs They do get Foundation Forumlua funding this is the main mechanism for school funding on a per pupil basis for students in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade There are some exceptions to this rule in some years that allow certain rural districts to get partial funding for pre school programs This is more the exception than than the rule though The base number of students required to get a school funded is ten 10 from K 12 during a 20 day count period for membership in October In other words students ENROLLED not necessarily present for those 20 days has to be at least 10 0 or higher http www touchngo com lglcntr akstats statutes title14 chapter30 section010 htm In addition rural schools in Alaska that are primarily made up of Alaska Native students often get significant funding from Impact Aid a formula that tries to lessen the impact of having mostly non taxable lands owned by the federal government or its entities This does count younger preschool students http touchngo com lglcntr akstats Statutes Title14 Chapter17 Section410 htm Hope this helps Regards John

    in advance for your time and input Joshuawalker Posts 2 Joined Wed Nov 25 2015 7 31 pm Top Re Searching for Job Prior to Graduation by Johncn Sun Nov 29 2015 6 06 am My question is whether school districts will hire or make a commitment to you before you have officially graduated contingent upon the graduation Hi Joshua Welcome to the ATP Forum Yes districts will treat you as a viable candidate if you are just wrapping up your pre service undergrad or graduate program The majority of new hires who are coming out of programs each academic year 2015 16 currently are looking for 2016 17 SY jobs Districts will require you to be certified in Alaska prior to starting work of course but they realize that you can t get your institutional recommendation for EED until you have completed your program Therefore if they only hired teachers holding that certificate or degree they would not be able to interview and hire until summer That would not work in Alaska as most districts start hiring in the mid winter January or February for the following fall They try to have the majority of their hiring for the coming August school year done by April or May Hope this helps John Johncn Posts 165 Joined Sun Feb 09 2014 11 05 am Top Re Searching for Job Prior to Graduation by Joshuawalker Sun Nov 29 2015 7 19 am Thank you so much for the info That makes perfect sense So how about the application for this site or Applitrack Should I just fill out what I can put my references on there etc Then as I get stuff knocked out I can edit the application or is best to wait Joshuawalker Posts 2 Joined Wed Nov 25
