    and news releases RSS Thoughts about Physician Assisted Death January 14 2016 I am writing today about Physician Assisted Death PAD The subject came up at the recent special meeting of the Representative Forum in December 2015 and is of great concern to members of the Alberta Medical Association Information for members about the PCC December 31 2015 In my November 10 President s Letter I wrote to you about the Physician Compensation Committee PCC and the work being done on a fee review of six codes You may recall that the fee review was the subject of major discussion at the fall meeting of the Representative Forum and then on October 30 at the Board of Directors What happened at the Special RF and PCC Information Session December 16 2015 A special session of the Representative Forum RF was held on December 12 in Edmonton to discuss the tentative agreements that I wrote to you about in my November 20 President s Letter The second part of the meeting was an information and education session regarding the Physician Compensation Committee PCC Sunshine list My thoughts member comments December 2 2015 I am writing to share what I have heard from you about Bill 5 The Public Sector Compensation Transparency Act and to offer my perspective Tentative agreement Special RF and a ratification vote November 20 2015 Since the spring you have been hearing about ongoing collaborative talks with Alberta Health AH to find ways to improve efficiencies and control costs while maintaining quality care I am pleased to tell you that we have now reached a tentative agreement that proposes to amend and supplement the existing 2011 18 AMA Agreement About the PCC fee review November 10 2015 I am writing to you again about the Physician Compensation Committee PCC and the work being done on a fee review of six codes Sunshine List for Physicians November 6 2015 I had intended my next President s Letter to be a follow up on the fee review work being done by the Physician Compensation Committee However the government tabled a bill yesterday known as Bill 5 The Public Sector Compensation Transparency Act commonly referred to as sunshine legislation PCC fee review and leading change October 16 2015 The Board of Directors meets October 29 30 One of the major agenda items will be review of the outcomes of the September 25 26 Representative Forum RF If you attended the RF or as you may have heard from colleagues delegates conducted in camera sessions for a candid discussion of the fee review currently underway at the AMA AH Physician Compensation Committee PCC AHS Negotiations Framework October 2 2015 In this my first President s Letter of the year I am writing to you about the important issue of recent discussions with Alberta Health Services AHS about a negotiations framework Final thoughts September 25 2015 2014 2015 AMA President Dr Rick Johnston writes his last President s Letter Thank you Service demand

    use up your CME allotments New for 2015 Claim online In the past you submitted your CME claims via fax scan or mail Recently AMA Membership and Benefits set up an online CME Claims process whereby you can complete and submit an electronic CME Claims form and also view a record of your past claims submissions see links below NOTE After completing and submitting your electronic CME Claims form you should receive an email from the AMA verifying receipt of your submitted claims form You re no longer required to submit hard copies of either the claims form or CME course receipts However in the event of a random CME Claims audit you re advised to retain copies of your course receipts If you re selected to participate in the random audit you ll receive an email requesting that you submit copies of CME course receipts as proof of registration and payment Claim online Make a claim online View your previous claims Claim by Mail You can also make claims by mail Follow this three step process to make a claim Step 1 To claim a reimbursement for credits simply go to the appropriate program link Claim from the CFPC Claim from the RCPSC This link takes you to the RCPSC Mainport sign in page After logging into the RCPSC website you ll be able to find the information about making a claim Step 2 Print your credit earnings report and attach it to your completed CME claim form You will find reimbursement guidelines on the back of the application form Print out your application form and complete it Complete the CME Application for Benefits Step 3 Mail or fax your application form credit earnings report and receipts to Alberta Medical Association AMA Benefits Administrators What s the payment process We normally issue payment within one week of receiving your claim form the required receipts and course information Your receipts must be attached to your claim form for reimbursement What about income tax Reimbursements received through the CME program must be declared as income for tax purposes We do not mail out a tax receipt Please keep your original receipts When and how often can I submit claims Annual allotments carry forward for three years but expire on March 31 of the fourth year if not used e g you have until March 31 2016 to use your 2013 allotment You can submit claims as often as you like but the expenses must have been incurred during the available allotment period e g January 1 2013 to March 31 2016 You can claim an expense in whole or in part only once The AMA may request more information to verify a claim Electronic funds transfer You can access reimbursement payments through electronic funds transfer Complete the Payment Request form Mail or fax your form to AMA Benefits Administrators Questions Contact our Benefits Administrators Deanna J Longmuir Alberta Medical Association 12230 106 Ave NW Edmonton AB T5N 3Z1 T 780 482
