  • Form an APAC Chapter | All Parks Alliance for Change
    organize for meaningful social change that will improve the quality of life in manufactured home parks Chapters provide the structure needed to have your community s voice express its needs and concerns in the community at large effectively APAC is led by a board of directors who are elected by members of local APAC Chapters Chapters can participate in APAC programs receive information and advice from APAC staff and nominate candidates for the APAC board of directors Why form a Chapter Forming a chapter gives your community a voice on the statewide APAC organization You can nominate representatives from your community to join with others on the APAC board of directors to led the movement for justice in manufactured home parks of your community and across the state Forming a chapter builds APAC s power to organize for social change to help you and your neighbors Requirements for forming a chapter A chapter can be formed when 10 of the occupied households in a park are members of APAC with the following exceptions parks with 20 or fewer households require two households parks with more than 100 households require 15 households and parks with more than 300 households require 20 households Members living in the same city but residing in different parks who are not part of an established park chapter may form a city level chapter Steps for forming a Chapter Step 1 Identify park concerns that statewide involvement in APAC could address Step 2 Recruit households to join as APAC members Step 3 Invite APAC member households to a chapter steering committee meeting Review and affirm support for APAC s mission statement Approve APAC chapter bylaws short and simple Review the job description for representatives to the APAC board of directors Nominate chapter representatives to the APAC board

  • Resident Associations | All Parks Alliance for Change
    at least 51 of the manufactured homes in the park to represent them and which is organized for the purpose of resolving matters relating to living conditions in the manufactured home park Resident Associations can address many park wide issues by requesting necessary repairs and maintenance and improvements in health and safety conditions in the park A Resident Association can bring park residents together and serve as an effective outlet to voice concerns and take action against unfair park rules It can also work to pass a Park Closing Ordinance or address other issues that affect residents of your park How to Form One Step 1 Identify park concerns a Resident Association could address Step 2 Collect signatures for Resident Association petition Step 3 Define mission statement of the Association Step 4 Hold Board Elections Step 5 Approve By laws Step 6 Incorporate the Association Step 7 Celebration Step 8 Win real victories for your community APAC is here to help you We can provide information advice and support in forming a resident association In some cases we can flyer the park with information and if there is a strong interest we can even organize an educational workshop in the park Workshops generally cover resident rights and responsibilities as well as other questions as they come up Signing the agreement to join the Resident Association does not mean you must attend Resident Association meetings it simply says that it gives the Resident Association permission to speak on park residents behalf regarding park wide issues The people who sign on to the Resident Association will remain confidential Management will not have access to the list of Resident Association members If you are interested in creating a Resident Association in your park or if you think there is interest in a residents

    00am End 11 12 2015 11 59pm Timezone Etc GMT 5 Why does APAC need you to Give to the Max Residents are fighting against LOSS OF HOMES Residents own their homes but rent the land and if their community is redeveloped moving homes is often too expensive for residents UNHEALTHY COMMUNITIES State law establishes clear health safety standards but enforcement is often ineffective and many problems remain unresolved UNREGULATED UTILITIES Residents lack the protections given other rate payers FEW HOME OWNER PROTECTIONS Manufactured homes are classified as personal property and titled like cars which leads to more costly loans and fewer rights ATTACKS ON THEIR RIGHTS Park management often interfere with residents legally guaranteed rights to organize speak out and stand up for themselves Residents through APAC are fighting for FAIR RELOCATION COMPENSATION Residents fund the Manufactured Home Relocation Trust Fund with a 12 annual fee and benefits should cover actual costs HEALTH SAFETY ENFORCEMENT Provide residents with notice of park health code violations and better tools for enforcing the law FAIR UTILITIES Give residents the same rates and same legal protections HOME OWNER RIGHTS Classify manufactured homes as real property with access to better loans and more consumer
