    VISIT EVENTS BLOG OTHER WORKS 1 134 JONES KAHN PAIGE February 14 2009 to March 14 2009 This exhibition featured works on paper by the architects Wes Jones of Jones Partners Architecture Eric Kahn of the Central Office of Architecture and Gary Paige of Gary Paige Studio This exhibition focused on their works outside of architecture paintings and drawings collages mappings and exercises in atmospherics the personal work of these architects as artists This exhibition featured works on paper by the architects Wes Jones of Jones Partners Architecture Eric Kahn of the Central Office of Architecture and Gary Paige of Gary Paige Studio The architectural works of Jones Kahn and Paige have been published widely and are recognized internationally This exhibition instead focused on their other works paintings and drawings collages mappings and exercises in atmospherics the personal work of these architects as artists This exhibition featured not merely a sampling of different series of works on paper by these artist architects it also provided a rare simultaneous glimpse into their creative processes and visions Through a positing of the works as the experimental grounds for architectural production this exhibition promoted a conversation on architects and their work the production

  • After the Flood: Building on Higher Ground - A+D Architecture and Design Museum
    of architectural responses and innovative solutions to the urban and environmental conditions of New Orleans After the Flood was an architectural exhibit produced for the 10th International Venice Architecture Biennale by Architectural Record and Tulane University s School of Architecture The exhibit examined the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005 and offered a range of architectural responses and innovative solutions to the urban and environmental conditions of New Orleans To reflect current development in the recovery process of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast A D Museum collaborated with the Make It Right Foundation The Make It Right Foundation was established by Brad Pitt to rebuild the Lower 9th Ward with a focus on green and affordable housing incorporating innovative design Out of these efforts the PINK PROJECT was conceived Together with GRAFT the idea was born to create an installation that would focus immediate global attention onto a pervasive local issue On December 3 2007 450 pink structures were unveiled along the Industrial Canal in the Lower 9th Ward Through monetary donations these pink placeholders ultimately enabled the construction of 150 real homes This exhibition included 13 designs for these new homes by an international selection of

    Development was a rare opportunity to view the pioneering and visionary side of the force behind our built environment the developer In this exhibition A D Museum presented a selection of Los Angeles developers whose projects embodied innovative vision in the field of architecture and thoughtful consideration for the future of the urban fabric The enlightened projects on exhibit incorporated inventive and resourceful design emerging architectural talent and ecological sustainability Companies of all magnitudes were represented including two non profit development groups that were doing important affordable and sustainable projects Enlightened Development aimed to inform the public of these important ventures and promote further visionary urban development Advisory Board member Developer and Urban Planner Dan Rosenfeld wrote this title wall prose Enlightened is one of the highest compliments in our vocabulary It evokes the greatest cultural and political breakthroughs in the long history of Western Civilization and the highest spiritual aspirations of the East Its root word is the most essential ingredient of good design light Partnerships between developers and architects are often compared in this city with relationships between film producers and directors These relationships assume from the start that even the smallest building like a feature film is too large to be created alone Every built environment requires a team Part of what distinguishes the work in this show is that each building team has been carefully attuned to the social fabric the physical and historical contexts neighborhood cultures and human aspirations of our community In that sense this work belongs to us all and if it is good it is because the developers and architects have tapped into some vein of natural truth None of the developers recognized in this show have requested this honor We are however humbly appreciative of the distinction and would like to
