    Hospital Cipto Mangunkusomo in Jakarta Indonesia the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia the University of Oxford UK and the University Medical Centre Utrecht the Netherlands have joined forces to establish the necessary platform for a durable improvement in clinical epidemiological teaching and research in Indonesia and Malaysia The specific actions planned include 1 Teaching mission Aim to establish common and sustainable knowledge and capacities in the participating centres in evidence based medicine and clinical epidemiology by organizing teaching missions aimed at defined target groups at undergraduate and postgraduate level Course Target group Teaching staff UNDERGRADUATE 6 week introductory course in applied clinical epidemiology 400 3rd year medical students of University of Malaya and University of Indonesia per year Staff from the University Medical Centre Utrecht and University of Oxford first teaching then supervisory Staff from University of Malaya and University of Indonesia teaching PhD fellows assisting in practicum POSTGRADUATE Basic course clinical epidemiology and evidence based medicine Advanced courses clinical epidemiology and evidence based medicine 480 Medical doctors practicing doctors post graduate researchers management staff of the University of Malaya and University of Indonesia and affiliated hospitals Healthcare policy makers of Ministries of Health Staff from the University Medical Centre Utrecht and University of Oxford first teaching then supervisory Staff from University of Malaya and University of Indonesia teaching 2 PhD fellowships Aim To enable the most talented young medical doctors of University of Malaya and Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital Indonesia to deepen their knowledge and expertise in specialized areas of clinical epidemiology on an international level Ten PhD fellows five from each country will be recruited six in year one and six in year two The PhD fellows will be supported and mentored by expert scientists of the University of Oxford and the University Medical Centre Utrecht In

    information on the other The practice of evidence based medicine means integration of individual clinical expertise with the best available external clinical evidence from systematic research Clinical reasoning is both supported and assessed by adequate application of methods and principles of EBM In order to integrate EBM into daily medical practice doctors need to learn to clearly formulate a well defined clinical problem By regularly sharing their findings with colleagues using methods and principles of EBM timely and focused updating of one s knowledge can be achieved In order to practice EBM knowledge and skills on principles and methods of EBM are paramount Development of these knowledge and skills are essential in today s modern medical training In the current module medical students will acquire knowledge and skills regarding principles and methods of EBM At the end of the module students will be able to prepare a clear and succinct Evidence Based Case Report EBCR in which they will give an overview of the best scientifically justified methods to manage a well defined clinical problem Learning objectives At the end of this module students will have aquired 1 the skills to read and interpret scientific papers and to appreciate their relevance and validity 2 the skills to define a research question and select the appropriate design to answer this question 3 the knowledge about the designs methods and analytic techniques of etiological diagnostic prognostic and therapeutic research 4 the skills to interpret and discuss the findings of a scientific research project 5 the skills to present the findings of a research project both orally and in writing 6 the insight in the values and shortcomings of EBM in individual patient care 7 the skills to use the best available evidence from medical literature in patient care 8 the knowledge and
