  • The DigitalGlobe Foundation Award for the Application of High-Resolution Digital Satellite Imagery
    types IKONOS 1M Panchromatic 4M Multispectral or 1M Pansharpenend Multispectral Geo Geo Stereo US only GeoProfessional Ortho US only GeoEye 1 0 50 meter Panchromatic 2 meter Multispectral or 0 50 meter Pansharpenend Multispectral Geo Geo Stereo US only GeoProfessional Ortho US only Details about each product are available at www digitalglobe com Size of Area The award consists of an area of interest AOI of up to 500 square kilometers or separate smaller AOIs consisting of a total area less than or equal to 500 square kilometers Area of Interest The area of interest chosen must be imagery that resides outside of DigitalGlobe s Regional Affiliate Communication Cones A DigitalGlobe Foundation representative can explain these areas New Collection In addition to archive imagery applicants may apply for a new collection from IKONOS 11 x 11 km or GeoEye 1 15 x 15 km Grant of a new collection may not compete with areas experiencing high demand for satellite resources or with DigitalGlobe Regional Affiliates Contact DigitalGlobe s Customer Service Department for details At most one new collection will be granted per year conditioned upon satellite availability and a strong application Application In addition to the application form two letters of recommendation and official transcripts applicants must submit a brief proposal three pages maximum with the following information Title The title must describe the proposed research Objective Clearly state the purpose s of the research and the applications that it might address Description of research study area and data needs Provide a brief description of physical features of the study area Consider the area to be covered and the type and amount of DigitalGlobe high resolution satellite data needed for the study Include information on geographic coverage maps and coordinates Note Only DigitalGlobe IKONOS and GeoEye 1 data from the DigitalGlobe archive can be acquired under this award Applicants are encouraged to use GeoFUSE http geofuse digitalglobe com DigitalGlobe s online search and discovery tool to check the archive data base for availability of archived data for the intended study or to confer with a representative of the DigitalGlobe Foundation Application Description of the possible applications that might result from this research and indicate possible users Analysis procedure s Provide a brief description of the analysis approach indicating why high resolution DigitalGlobe data is appropriate Anticipated results State the specific results desired in performing this research with the use of the high resolution satellite data Budget Itemize the budget for the grant specifying DigitalGlobe products up to 500 square kilometers needed for the research Note Only DigitalGlobe products can be requested on your budget Also identify other support for the research e g computer facilities provided by the college university fieldwork grant no yy from the ABC Foundation manuscript preparation personal funds etc List all courses workshops and other training experience that demonstrate your capability to conduct proposed research Obtain approval signature of student faculty adviser Award Selection The selection committee from the ASPRS GIS Division and DigitalGlobe will evaluate

  • International Educational Literature Award (IELA)

    a career in the geospatial mapping profession Award The award consists of a certificate and a check in the amount of 5 500 and a one year student or associate membership new or renewal in ASPRS This award is presented by ASPRS MAPPS the Management Association of Private Photogrammetric Surveyors and ACSM the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping through the ASPRS Foundation from funds donated by students associates colleagues and friends of Frank Moffitt as a memorial to his lifetime contributions to the photogrammetric surveying profession Application An upper division undergraduate or graduate level student who wishes to be considered for the award must submit an application form and the following items A listing of courses taken and or those to be taken in surveying and photogrammetry and other related geospatial information technologies recognizing that instruction in remote sensing is often embedded in courses taught in many different disciplines A transcript of all college university level courses completed and grades received to demonstrate scholastic ability A listing of 1 work experience and internships 2 technical papers research reports or other publications 3 courses taught as a lecturer or teaching assistant and 4 presentations made that may support the applicant s capabilities in this field Two letters of recommendation from faculty members or professionals having knowledge of the applicant s capabilities demonstrated or potential A statement not to exceed 2 pages detailing 1 the applicant s educational and or research goals that relate to the advancement of surveying and photogrammetry and other related geospatial information technologies and the applications of these technologies and 2 the applicant s long term professional career goals Award Selection The Committee evaluates each candidate s application applying equal weight to each element outlined above The Committee will also assign additional points as appropriate to the
