    2015 Innovations in Local Government Addressing Health Inequality This briefing will explore emerging Alameda County health equity efforts that have resulted in new financial tools and career workforce development strategies for the Boys and Men of Color population The program will showcase the following financial strategy profiles Collective Impact Fund A new financing initiative and loan fund to increase the flow of capital in disinvested communities through small business development sector financing and individual asset building to create economic opportunities Healthy Credit A new loan guarantee program that allows nonprofit lenders to provide small personal loans to low income credit challenged populations as an alternative to predatory options Pay for Success Private capital investment models for chronic disease management and prevention Programs and Practice EMS Corps and Dig Deep Farms Produce EMS Corps is a paid stipend certificated EMT training program for 18 26 year old low income and at risk males a highly effective workforce development strategy that results in real jobs in health careers for young men of color Dig Deep Farms Produce is a social enterprise that s expanding job opportunities and community economic development for the re entry population This program will provide funders with an opportunity to learn about innovations in local government that use private capital investments to scale interventions that improve health outcomes for disenfranchised populations The goal is to enrich relationships with funders who are involved in this work We will begin with a brief presentation on each of the financial strategies listed above We ll break into small discussion groups to provide time for deeper conversations into each of the four financial strategies Finally we will come back together as a large group for funders response discussion and informal networking Target Audience Funders who are addressing poverty community development health equity
