    Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed today named Jo Ann J Macrina as the new Commissioner of the Department of Watershed Management for the City of Atlanta Macrina brings 25 years of civil engineering and public management expertise to the position Jo Ann J Macrina has had a distinguished career and will help the Department of Watershed Management meet its goals said Mayor Reed I am confident that Jo Ann will be committed to developing a culture of high performance and excellent customer service as she leads the department Macrina a registered professional civil engineer has managed substantial areas of municipal operations in various cities for two decades She currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Watershed Protection Division for DeKalb County s Department of Watershed Management She has executive municipal management skills that include fiscal management and budgeting departmental strategic planning program development and planning Prior to working with DeKalb County Macrina served as the Deputy Director of Transportation for the City of Roswell where she was instrumental in building positive relationships with local state and federal agencies and oversaw technical operations for four divisions program and planning capital improvement program and design traffic management and construction Throughout her career Macrina has also worked in various management positions at civil engineering firms throughout the state Among her numerous leadership roles Macrina has served on former Gov Sonny Perdue s Advisory Board for Erosion and Sedimentation Control since 2004 and currently serves as President of the American Society of Civil Engineers for Georgia a 2 700 member professional organization She earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas and a Master of Public Administration from the University of South Florida Mayor Reed s strong leadership and commitment to excellence was pivotal in my decision to accept
