for Government so in the event of FF being in government the issue for basic income supporters will be whether this BI Commission proposal makes it into the Programme The text below occurs under the heading Create a fairer welfare system iv Establish a Basic Income Commission This government introduced a series of regressive budgets that have inflicted profound damage on the basic social fabric of the country In the midst of economic crisis Fine Gael and Labour chose to place the burden of adjustment on those least able to bear it In contrast Fianna Fáil implemented tough but progressive budgets that asked the most of the wealthy in Ireland Addressing the unfairness of government policy that neglected low income households and empowering people from all strands of Irish life to get ahead will be a priority for our party in government We will establish a commission to further investigate the feasibility of establishing a basic income system as part of an overall effort to create a fairer 21st century welfare system The commission will report within 12 months with specific recommendations and proposals Reply Leave a Reply to John Baker Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Name Email Website Comment Sign me up for the newsletter Opinions Reviews Interview with Zoltan Istvan US presidential candidate in support of basic income February 12 2016 No comments Scott Santens basic income log the importance of security February 5 2016 No comments Towards a Universal Basic Income in France elements for a debate February 1 2016 No comments From the web Ian Sparks and Andy Lines Switzerland government plans to give all adults 425 a week to end poverty Italy Campaign in Campania seeks ten thousand signatures for basic income The Economist Basically Unaffordable Audio A Feminist Case For A Universal Basic Income Join us on Facebook Popular Posts INTERNATIONAL Christopher Pissarides a Nobel Laureate argues for UBI at the World Economic Forum at Davos 7 732 views posted on February 6 2016 FINLAND Basic income experiment what we know 3 069 views posted on December 9 2015 DENMARK Private Bank Predicts Europe Will Consider Basic Income in 2016 3 033 views posted on January 22 2016 SWITZERLAND Parliament rejects basic income initiative but poll shows popular support 2 760 views posted on October 3 2015 SWITZERLAND Only 2 of people would stop working if they had a basic income 1 990 views posted on January 28 2016 UK Green MP tables motion for basic income study 1 753 views posted on January 22 2016 SWITZERLAND Government reacts negatively to UBI proposal 1 607 views posted on August 29 2014 FRANCE Minister of Economy says he is open to basic income 1 421 views posted on January 26 2016 FINLAND New Government Commits to a Basic Income Experiment 1 240 views posted on June 16 2015 Analysing Social Policy Concepts and Language Comparative and transnational perspectives by Daniel Béland and Klaus Petersen eds a review
