  • Directory Canvas BHS Course Sites BMS Course Sites Calendar Return to Headlines Teacher Co Authors Textbook Guide Dr Michelle Rogers an English teacher at Bexley High School recently contributed to the teachers manual that accompanies a new textbook entitled Conversations in American Literature Language Rhetoric and Culture by Robin Dissin Aufses Renee H Shea Lawrence Scanlon and Kate Aufses Published in 2015 by Bedford St Martin s the textbook is suitable for students of rhetoric and those enrolled in Advanced Placement AP English Language and Composition according to Dr Rogers It teaches students how to read critically and analyze works of the American literary canon stories poems speeches essays and more she said Dr Rogers work is included in the manual that walks educators through how to read the texts and guide students through close reading questions Her portion of the manual provides teachers with model syllabi that utilize the textbook giving rationales sample assignments and pacing suggestions Dr Rogers work on the manual was part of her Individual Professional Development Plan IPDP a document that contains a teacher s training needs or desires as well as short and long term career goals Dr Rogers presented her work and an

  • to register a student BHS Publications Policies Forms BMS Publications Policies Forms Staff Directory Canvas BHS Course Sites BMS Course Sites Calendar Return to Headlines Bexley s senior tag discouraged Dear Parent Guardian of BHS Senior I would like to address here the issue of Bexley s senior tag The Bexley City School District does not endorse this activity We have requested year after year that students suspend senior tag and substitute it with a safer and more socially acceptable activity before someone gets hurt Unfortunately our students recognize that the school district s influence extends only as far as the school day school grounds and activities They have continued to ignore our requests and organize senior tag We have consulted with the Bexley Police Department about the issue but we realize that there are limits to their authority because sports bras boxer shorts and bikini bottoms worn in public while unacceptable to most are permissible Our police officers have confirmed however that if they observe reckless behavior among students the police will take appropriate enforcement action We ask that parents and guardians discourage their students from participating and help put an end to this annual tradition Please speak with your student and discuss the numerous safety and legal risks they assume by participating in senior tag Here are several scenarios causing heightened concern each with legal implications that we have observed in the recent past among students taking part in the game 1 Students in their underwear driving unsafely or recklessly including riding on car hoods or trunks 2 Students on foot in the street dodging automobile traffic while pursuing others 3 Students disregarding requests for appropriate dress at community institutions such as synagogues community centers and churches and where they are among young children 4 Students trespassing and

  • Publications Policies Forms BMS Publications Policies Forms Staff Directory Canvas BHS Course Sites BMS Course Sites Calendar Return to Headlines New Community Garden The opening for the Bexley Schools Seeds That Feed Bexley Community Garden has been postponed to Friday April 29 2016 with a 6 30pm event featuring food catered by Cameron Mitchell Restaurants The garden located between Cassingham Elementary School and the Cassingham Complex Arts Wing is supported by a Bexley Education Foundation classroom grant of 5 120 The community learning garden comprised of eight raised beds is tended by Bexley High School students participating in the Garden Club as well as those enrolled in Family Consumer Science classes Students in the Environmental and Key Clubs and additional teachers will be involved in the project through both instructional and extracurricular programs In addition a second grant provided for an outdoor art installation created by BHS students with guidance from guest ceramic artist Megs LeVesseur Spearheaded by BHS Family and Consumer Sciences teacher Marybeth Motasem the garden is envisioned as a way to promote a living learning environment that creates a deep connection between the food we grow and the food we eat The BMS students of teacher Chris
