    Migration November 1 thru 6 2003 Morgan County Indiana Nov 1 The weather was overcast and warm but the winds were calm so the migration crew and their whooping were able to fly another leg of their journey They flew for 1 hour and 34 minutes and traveled 55 6 miles All 16 cranes made the flight Nov 2 On the ground it was warm and calm The team took off but found that aloft the winds were stronger and from the south So they decided to stay in Morgan County and wait for better conditions Nov 3 Another sunny and warm day with headwinds from the south southwest The pilots attempted to depart but several of the whooping cranes turned around presumably because of the headwinds So the pilots and remaining cranes returned to their stop in Morgan County Nov 4 Sunny warm windy weather continues With winds out of the south at 12 mph the whooping cranes and migration team are forced to stay put Total distance flown is 391 3 miles Nov 5 Sunny warm windy weather continues With winds out of the south at 12 mph the whooping cranes and migration team are forced to stay
