    Friend Update My Details About What We Do Videos Publications Annual Reports Newsletters Contact search NewsPage Search form Search You are here Home Half Day Meditation Practice Event Image Body Half Day Meditation Practice This Half Day Practice Session is an opportunity for meditators who already have a basic understanding of mindfulness or insight meditation practice to do more extended practice in a group setting There will be minimal instructions given for the session but the afternoon will be structured to include sitting and walking meditation sessions checking of practice with Grahame White or Dr Chien Hoong Gooi afternoon tea loving kindness practice and question time This event is strictly open only to those who have previously completed at least one introductory mindfulness or insight meditation course with Grahame White or Dr Chien Hoong Gooi The afternoon will be run on the basis of dana Dana is the traditional practice of generosity the extending of one s goodwill which is fundamental to Buddhism and other spiritual traditions The teachings flourish in an atmosphere of generosity and gratitude and these qualities in turn support the growth of wisdom and compassion in the practitioner The instructions and guidance for this course are offered without requesting a specified fee and it is up to individuals to determine the amount of dana they would like to offer It can sometimes be easy to become confused when we are new to this and we wonder how much should I give This is a relevant question in the material economy but an appropriate dana cannot be prescribed but requires sensitivity to its intent and awareness of the costs and expenses associated with organising a course e g administrative venue costs You are welcome to ask for a receipt for your dana which is tax deductible Registration

    On Going Support For Chaplains Other Spiritual Care Projects For Members Member Listing Member Benefits Member Service Accreditation Joining The Member Network Getting Involved Volunteer Positions Volunteer Application Form Become a Friend Update My Details About What We Do Videos Publications Annual Reports Newsletters Contact search NewsPage Search form Search You are here Home Public Talk by Dhammaruwan Event Image Body Public Talk by Dhammaruwan The talk is based on the practical aspects of meditation in relation to life The participants are expected to arrive perhaps half an hour before the talk and sit in meditation The talk is preceded by a guided meditation starts at 7 30 followed by sitting for about 15 minutes The talk will commence and last for 45 to 1 hour with a short Q A session at the end Dhammaruwan born in a traditional Buddhist village in Sri Lanka became known for spontaneously chanting suttas in his early childhood Having begun his meditation practice in his early childhood with the teachings of Anagarika Munindra Dhammaruwan has since associated many world renowned Dhamma teachers He has over 30 years of meditation and Dhamma practice While still a teenager in 1987 Dhammaruwan co taught his first residential retreat with Bhikkhu Wannasara He was trained for many years under Bhante Henepola Gunaratana Nayaka Thero during which time he took temporary ordination as Samanera Dhammaratana Dhammaruwan is a graduate of Insight Meditation Society s Teacher Training Program USA 2005 He founded the Nirodha Trust and the Nirodha City Centre Dhammaruwan teaches internationally and brings his students a complex teaching in simple and easy language Dhammaruwan being a single parent lives in Sri Lanka bringing up his two teenage children while teaching island wide and internationally For more information to register www buddhistlibrary org au Buddhist Library 02 9519
