    approach and active leak detection and flushing program dramatically reduced water pipe failures and produced a drop in unbilled water from 48 percent to 14 percent Installation of automatic meter readers increased customer satisfaction and allowed for billing based on actual usage 2015 Public Water System Award Received from the Department of Environmental Protection Drinking Water Programs for outstanding performance as a consecutive community system for excellent compliance efforts with regulations to protect and supply safe drinking water to Boston The Commission has received this award 6 times between 2009 and 2015 and also special recognition by Mass DEP in 2015 for winning the national Best of the Best Tap Water Taste Award 2015 Distinguished Budget Presentation Award For 23 consecutive years 2015 BWSC has received the Government Finance Officers Association s GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its Current Expense Budget documents This is the highest form of recognition in government budgeting and recognizes that BWSC s Current Expense Budget met the GFOA program criteria as a policy document an operation guide a financial plan and a communications device 2015 Governor s Citation BWSC was presented with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Governor s Citation in recognition of dedicated service to maintaining a safe and abundant supply of clean water and commitment to protecting the environment 2014 Best of the Best Tap Water Taste Award Boston wins the American Water Works Association AWWA tenth annual Best of the Best national tap water tasting contest The contest included 31 entrants from water utilities across the United States Canada and Puerto Rico and was judged by a panel of industry experts The Quabbin and Wachusett reservoirs to Boston s west are the sources of Boston s largely pristine water 2014 New England Water Works Association s Young Professional Employer Support Award New England Water Works Association NEWWA recognized BWSC for their significant effort in supporting the involvement of young professional members who are under the age of 35 in the both the Association and the waterworks profession The award recognized the Commission and its young professionals for actively participating in NEWWA s committees programs and presentations 2014 New England Water Works Association s Utility Service Award BWSC was presented with the Utility Service Award by the New England Water Works Association NEWWA for outstanding service through leadership and active participation in NEWWA programs This honor is in recognition of BWSC s commitment to providing financial in kind and volunteer resources in an effort to advance public health safety and welfare 1992 2012 Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Received from the GFOA this Certificate of Achievement has been awarded to BWSC for 21 consecutive years 1992 2012 for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports BWSC s reporting was judged based on its conformity to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles GAAP and its compliance with other finance related legal and contractual provisions The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in government accounting and financial reporting 2011 Charles River Watershed Association

    with Boston Police and Fire Hazmat and Boston Environmental Strike Team Manages Commission contracts for CCTV Leak Detection and other related professional services Maintains public relations customer service in order to ensure best possible outcome for the customer Performs similar or related work as required directed or as situation dictates Qualifications Bachelor s Degree in Civil Engineering required Three to five years related experience required with some supervisory experience highly preferred Must possess a valid Massachusetts Driver s License Starting Salary 997 50 1 680 11 Weekly Open All Close All Project Engineer Essential Functions Performs professional and technical engineering work assisting senior level Project Engineers in all aspects of construction surveying inspection and scheduling Reviews daily inspector reports for accuracy for each contract and oversees the inspector s work Coordinates construction activities with other department projects Reviews claims and prepares required change orders Resolves construction related conflicts in a timely manner as not to incur unnecessary additional costs to the Commission Records construction data on red line drawings for as built records Performs regular site visits to confirm contractor compliance with Commission Standards Responds to and resolves customer complaints and concerns Reviews monthly pay estimates for each contract Conducts final inspections punch list of all contract work to ensure conformity to Commission specifications Schedules and conducts preconstruction meetings with contractors and any impacted agencies to discuss nature and scope of work as well as any special conditions of the contract work Re designs water sewer and or drain systems as needed due to conflicts encountered during construction Notifies abutting customers of upcoming work in their area through mailings and community meetings Reviews and approves shop drawings for each contract to ensure compliance with Commission Standards Reviews work of department co ops Corresponds with other public and private utilities for permitting and work coordination Compiles plans and documents for assigned construction contracts as directed Corresponds with other local and state agencies for permits and work coordination Requests additional funding from the Commissioners for contract over runs and change orders Monitors construction progress through construction status reports Participates in community meetings to discuss impacts of upcoming Commission work Performs total station or level run surveys as required Prepares closeout documentation including contractor performance Performs similar or related work as required directed or as situation dictates Qualifications Bachelor s Degree in Civil Engineering Engineer in Training EIT Certificate in Massachusetts is desirable Construction and engineering experience is necessary Valid Massachusetts Driver s License required Starting Salary 997 50 1 680 11 Weekly Open All Close All CAD Tech Essential Functions Utilize AutoCAD Engineering Software and digitizing equipment to draft base plans construction drawings profiles as built plans and related plans used in the design and construction of civil engineering projects Utilize and operate the latest versions of AutoCAD and Land Development Desktop and other software to create construction drawings as built drawings and engineering details Assist Engineering staff in field surveys including instrument surveys Research records for related data and information Produce
