    sessions in the Section s conferences The following briefly describes the objectives of each committee and lists the chairs and their contact information Section members are encouraged to contact the committee chairs if they are interested in joining the committees or would like to provide suggestions or comments Members The list of Division members is available on this page Links Resources Tanks Reservoirs Structures Provide information on roofing systems internal and external coating systems and practices for water storage facilities protection of exposed piping and equipment in pumping plants and underground vaults and new methods for improved performance Security Emergency Planning 1 Encourage and assist water utilities and the supporting businesses to improve security and emergency planning 2 cooperate with government and private industry in security and emergency response training and exercises 3 arrange for educational and local assistance programs that focus on security and emergency planning and 4 coordinate Section and Division activities related to security and emergency planning Maintain ongoing cooperation and coordination with Federal Emergency Management Agency Department of Homeland Security the California Emergency Management Agency local government private industry Water Agency Response Network and other security and emergency planning entities in California and Nevada Environmental Health Safety Promote responsible protection and preservation of the environment human health and worker safety for water utilities The committee strives to 1 identify and track changes to new and existing environmental health and safety related regulatory requirements and determine how these regulations affect water utility compliance 2 disseminate useful information on techniques strategies and management approaches to comply with regulatory requirements and reduce the potential for people and the environment to be harmed by activities undertaken by water utilities 3 provide comments recommendations and positions of the Section to legislators and regulators on environmental health and safety issues with the

    assist water utilities in applying system control technologies to optimize business operations and maintenance Committee members shall develop and disseminate information about integrations applications and sustainability of telemetry and SCADA systems including control devices 1 Integration of SCADA systems includes data systems such as Computerized Maintenance Management Systems CMMS Laboratory Information Management Systems LIMS Customer Information Systems CIS Financial Information Systems FIS and Advanced Metering Infrastructure AMI 2 Application of SCADA systems includes process automation data collection historical data processing and advanced supervisory controls and strategies 3 Sustainability of SCADA systems includes data management system security SCADA governance resource requirements life cycle analysis and system resiliency 4 Control devices include maintenance and efficiencies of PRVs pumps VFDs and other control equipment The System Control Technology Committee will accomplish its purpose by executing three core strategies 1 Collaborate with other committees of the Section to provide timely and informative technical sessions at Section conferences 2 Organize professional seminars workshops and panels that bring attention to current trends and developments in system control technology 3 Encourage outreach and interest in system control technology through the Young Professionals Committee and Workforce Development Council This committee reports to the Operations and Maintenance Division Position

    to manual for conducting the Pipe Tapping Contest which must include current AWWA Tapping Contest Rules and Regulations The committee will videotape the contest proceedings and supply them to the contestants and the Section office Tapes will also be made available at a reasonable cost to interested agencies The committee will supply registration information before the specified deadline to the Section office to be included in the Spring Registration Package The committee will also supply the office with contest results and other promotional material to be published in the Summer Fall and Winter issues of SOURCE The Committee Chair should have a strong background in planning coordinating and conducting large scale demonstrations or events and be familiar with field pipeline service procedures There shall be three other members from at large one of which should be a supplier representative The Spring Local Arrangements Committee will supply one of its members as liaison to assist in coordinating this event This committee reports to the Operators Division Top Ops The purpose of this committee is to coordinate and conduct the Annual TOP OPS Challenge held during each Spring Meeting The Committee will also evaluate other activities competitions that may be incorporated in future meetings and conferences to increase the participation of operating personnel The committee will develop and maintain a how to manual for conducting the TOPS OPS Challenge The committee may video tape the contest proceedings and supply them to the contestants and the Section office Tapes will also be made available at a reasonable cost to interested agencies The committee will supply registration information before the specified deadline to the Section office to be included in the Spring Registration Package The committee will also supply the office with contest results and other promotional material to be published in SOURCE The
