resonates with companies Timing is important Many universities have been around for more than 100 years while many companies may have only been around for a few years or a few decades As a result university leaders tend to have a longer term focus for their institutions while corporate leaders take more of a short term view of their companies This is a critical idea when approaching a company Companies may be more interested in short term projects over longer term projects Passionate alumni can help build relationships with corporations Leveraging relationships with loyal alumni who work a specific companies can help make partnerships or even cash gifts possible It s important for universities to cultivate and engage their alumni at companies they hope to work with For instance a representative from Corning mentioned how a passionate alumna from Rutgers helped facilitate a substantial gift to the institution These company perspectives will prove useful for me as I continue to modify our corporate profiles In the past I ve focused more on grants but have learned that companies were less interested in giving out money They want deeper relationships with universities so it will be important to include more about company and university partnerships in upcoming research profiles Share this Click to print Opens in new window Click to email Opens in new window Share on Facebook Opens in new window Click to share on LinkedIn Opens in new window Click to share on Twitter Opens in new window Click to share on Tumblr Opens in new window More Click to share on Google Opens in new window Like this Like Loading Related Tags corporate partners corporate relationships corporate research corporate responsibility gift officers talent pipeline in STEM fields Post navigation Weekly Highlights for June 19 Twitter Chat Recap Branding Social Media Leave a Reply Cancel reply Enter your comment here Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in Email required Address never made public Name required Website You are commenting using your WordPress com account Log Out Change You are commenting using your Twitter account Log Out Change You are commenting using your Facebook account Log Out Change You are commenting using your Google account Log Out Change Cancel Connecting to s Notify me of new comments via email Notify me of new posts via email Search Blog Search RSS RSS Posts Subscribe via Email Archives Archives Select Month February 2016 2 January 2016 9 December 2015 7 November 2015 12 October 2015 10 September 2015 7 August 2015 9 July 2015 15 June 2015 12 May 2015 14 April 2015 17 March 2015 9 February 2015 8 January 2015 6 December 2014 10 November 2014 11 October 2014 10 September 2014 4 August 2014 9 July 2014 6 June 2014 4 May 2014 8 April 2014 6 March 2014 7 February 2014 7 January 2014 6 December 2013 4 November 2013 6 October 2013 6 September 2013 6 August 2013 10 July 2013 7
