  • Council for Advancement and Support of Education Announces New President | CASE District V - Council for Advancement and Support of Education District V
    vision leadership skills depth of knowledge and personal integrity required for this position Cunningham who currently leads a University Advancement team of 90 professionals comes to CASE with 17 years of experience working in academic institutions Cunningham began her career in educational advancement after working in the arts and cultural sector in 1998 at St Andrews University where she had oversight of development alumni relations and communications Later at the University of Oxford she led the development team in the execution of the largest fundraising campaign outside of the United States to raise 1 25 billion after five years leading advancement for Christ Church one of the most well known of Oxford colleges Cunningham was also responsible for the establishment of the University of Oxford s first China office based in Hong Kong At the University of Melbourne she has led the Campaign for the University of Melbourne which had its public launch in 2013 In all of her university roles Cunningham has regularly worked in North America Europe and Asia connecting with her institutional communities across the globe Cunningham studied at the Godolphin and Latymer School in London and received a bachelor of arts in Performance Arts from Middlesex University in London She was awarded a master s degree from Oxford University in 2003 Cunningham became a member of CASE in 1998 and has since volunteered with the organization on numerous occasions Cunningham served as the co chair of the CASE Europe Conference fundraising track for two years presented on major gift fundraising for CASE International was involved in the inception and delivery of the popular CASE Spring Institute for many years assisted in the establishment of the CASE Europe Graduate trainee program and is the inaugural chair of the CASE Asia Pacific Advisory Council I am honored to have been chosen to lead CASE said Cunningham This organization has been a mainstay for me throughout my career and I am excited to build upon its strong tradition of member services while fostering idea exchange among advancement professionals from around the globe My membership in CASE has enabled me to develop a world view of the impact of our profession It has also sparked a profound desire to contribute to and support our growing community of advancement professionals said Cunningham Brian Lee chair of the CASE Board of Trustees said Sue has an impressive overall knowledge of CASE and a keen understanding of its mission to serve members She is a practitioner at the highest level who has experience in the full range of advancement skills and who has risen through the ranks to achieve remarkable professional success Lee and Goodwin also offered the organization s sincere thanks to John Lippincott who has served for the past 11 years as CASE s longest serving president As one of the premier organizations of its type in the world CASE is currently at its strongest in its 40 year history with regard to membership finances and many other measures thanks in

    member institution Switzer became the first female president and 14th chief executive of Manchester University on Dec 1 2004 Since then she has led the private institution of liberal arts and sciences through transformational change Among the transformations at Manchester during the past nine years A 25 percent enrollment increase in enrollment A new four year professional Doctor of Pharmacy program on a new campus in Fort Wayne with 35 million in seed funds from Lilly Endowment Inc More than 90 million raised so far toward the 100 million Students First campaign the largest in MU history The opening of a 17 million Science Center 8 million Union 9 million Academic Center 1 5 million classroom and locker room addition all on a greener North Manchester campus The transition from college to university reflecting the growing complexity of the 124 year old institution Enhanced visibility of Manchester including national recognition for its volunteer programs workplace quality three year degree and affordable excellence A collaborator in initiatives to strengthen northeast Indiana Switzer led the effort to secure a 35 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc to launch the Manchester University College of Pharmacy which enrolled its first students in August 2012 The gift enabled Manchester to construct a LEED Gold certified state of the art 82 000 square foot facility on the north side of Fort Wayne The Board of Trustees accepted her retirement on Oct 19 with deep respect and admiration for a job well done President Switzer has led Manchester at a pace and with a strategic focus unprecedented in the history of Manchester She has been bold courageous and always steadfast to the Mission of Manchester University Switzer earned a bachelor s degree in English from Manchester in 1969 and her master s degree and Ph D in
