    Development at Albion Posted October 28 2013 by Mark Engebretson Matthew vandenBerg Albion College has announced the appointment of Matthew vandenBerg as associate vice president for development VandenBerg who is currently assistant dean for development and alumni relations at the Indiana University School of Informatics and Computing will join the College s Office of Institutional Advancement on Jan 13 2014 Matt vandenBerg will be a fantastic addition to the advancement program at Albion College said Joshua Merchant vice president for institutional advancement He is a knowledgeable and driven fundraiser who will bring added depth and skill to our growing development program In addition Matt is passionate about the liberal arts having attended Alma College as an undergraduate In his new role vandenBerg will lead the College s major gifts program corporate and foundation relations prospect management research donor relations and stewardship and advancement services VandenBerg brings extensive fundraising experience to the position During his nearly three year tenure at Indiana University he has planned and launched an ambitious campaign and significantly increased both annual giving and the alumni giving participation rate As an executive with the consulting firm CCS Fund Raising from 2007 to 2011 he raised over 50 million for academic and research institutions while directing five major capital and endowment campaigns In this role vandenBerg also recruited and trained over 300 top executives board members and other volunteers to play leadership roles in campaign fundraising Prior to his time with CCS Fund Raising vandenBerg served as a legislative assistant and deputy press secretary for Congressman Pete Hoekstra from mid 2005 through 2006 He also advised Hoekstra on key issues related to foreign affairs national defense and banking policy and assisted with media relations I have tremendous respect and admiration for Albion College and am thrilled for the opportunity
