  • CASE DISTRICT II CASE District II By-laws
    conferences workshops and events as may from time to time be deemed necessary to serve the special needs of all or part of the membership E Quorum Except as otherwise provided in these Bylaws a quorum for the transaction of business at any annual meeting or special meeting of the membership shall consist of a majority of those member representatives present There shall be no voting by proxies at such meetings F Time Place and Notice The time and place of the annual meeting the district conference and any special meetings or programs shall be determined by the District s Board of Trustees and notice of same shall be emailed to Member representatives and posted on the District website no less than thirty 30 days before the annual meeting G Parliamentary Authority The latest edition of Robert s Rules of Order shall govern the conduct of business affairs of the District in all situations to which the rules are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with the District s constitution or these Bylaws or the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws of CASE Article III Officers Trustees and Committees A Officers Officers of the District shall be a Chairperson Chairperson elect Immediate Past Chairperson Secretary and Treasurer The term for the Chairperson and Chairperson elect shall be two years The term of the Immediate Past Chairperson shall be two years The term for the Secretary shall be two years and the term for the Treasurer shall be two years B District Trustee A District Trustee to serve as a Trustee of CASE District II and to represent the District on the CASE Board of Trustees will be elected for a three year term by the members of CASE at the CASE Summit in the manner provided in CASE Bylaws in Article V B and in Article III subsection L of these Bylaws C Eligibility Unless otherwise provided in CASE Bylaws to be eligible for election to office a Member Representative must have been affiliated with the District for at least one year prior to election No person who ceases to be a Member Representative in the District shall continue in office after termination of his or her status as such D Election and Installation The Chairperson Elect Secretary and Treasurer shall be elected by the Member Representatives at the Annual Meeting and shall take office the following July 1 The sitting Chairperson Elect shall automatically assume the office of Chairperson the following July 1 E Duties of the Officers The officers shall have all powers and shall perform all duties commonly incident to and vested in their respective offices except that it shall be the responsibility of the Treasurer to see that all reports that are required to be filed with any governmental body and or with CASE are properly and timely filed and it shall be the responsibility of the Secretary to see that notices for meetings of the membership and the Board of Trustees are properly and

    standard categories of events giving alumni student interaction affinity group members volunteers or social media Most of these categories are inflated numbers without consistent data Replicating year over year success is challenging For example an event that is successful this year holds no guarantee of success next year Although these categories are important it is service that keeps alumni engaged with the life of the University or College This workshop will explore four avenues of thought 1 what services are in demand 2 how to gauge the quality of service 3 how often these services are utilized and 4 how to measure and track these services to guarantee alumni satisfaction A satisfied alumnus a is an engaged alumnus a The target audiences for this workshop are primarily alumni relations professionals in the tri state area Secondarily any faculty or administration who is part of the University wide engagement approach Institution Seton Hill University Greensburg PA Amount Funded 1 500 Purpose Seton Hill University is requesting 1 500 from the CASE District II Venture Capital Fund to host a full day Prospect Research Workshop in the summer of 2012 This workshop will be open to advancement professionals from institutions of higher education located in western and central Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio who are interested in building their prospect research skills Prospect research is crucial to the success of an advancement office because it provides staff with the ability to ask the right people for the right amount and the right project at the right time For the workshop Seton Hill will bring in an expert in the field of development and prospect research to discuss strategies that participants can use to identify their best prospective donors along with the donors potential giving levels gift timeframes and projects of interest In today s higher education environment competition is intense for the limited philanthropic dollars available Organizations are expected to run increasingly effective and efficient fundraising programs Nonprofit leaders can no longer rely on instinct or intuition to develop the sophisticated development operations necessary today Though many fundraising organizations have used some form of research for years today s advancement research comprises more than passing on word of mouth anecdotes and locating and collecting data Information is simply not enough anymore Expert analysis is necessary to convert raw data and information into functional intelligence Prospect research enables advancement professionals to meet the growing information needs of the fundraising community Using the Internet and other technologies fundraising researchers collect evaluate analyze organize package and disseminate publicly available information in a way that maximizes its usefulness and enables accurate and educated decision making However not every institution of higher education has a prospect researcher on staff Many times other advancement staff including directors of development the annual fund and alumni relations also perform prospect research functions Seton Hill University s Prospect Research Workshop will provide useful tools that a variety of advancement professionals can use to better mine their institutional databases in order to discover

    doesn t seem to be covered at the annual District conferences The District II Venture Capital Fund is for you History In 2007 the CASE District II Board created the Venture Capital Fund as a means to support fresh and innovative programming ideas within the District II membership Through CASE District Two s Venture Capital Fund we are able to invest in collaborative professional development programs for Advancement colleagues and their institutions This funding is meant to provide a catalyst for ideas and events that strengthen our work and illustrate the benefits a CASE institutional membership This initiative is a complement to not duplication of the funds that are directed toward priorities designated by the District II board Grants A total of 40 000 in venture capital is available for the year ahead Grants of 500 3 500 are available through the Venture Capital Fund Grant applications are reviewed bi annually Application deadlines are in the fall and in the spring Criteria All applications for Venture Capital funding will be given thorough consideration Successful applications will most likely meet some of the following criteria Impact on a number of CASE professionals Opportunities for professional development of CASE members Indication of
