    Collections View entire collection guide PDF 62 13 Kb HTML Search this collection Entire Collection Guide Online Items Collection Overview Table of contents Description An album of photographs showing the influence of French colonialism in Cambodia during the 1890s Background Album compiled by an unknown French maker possibly hailing from Amélie les Bains Palalda as the first three photographs in the album are from that town This album of albumen prints contains images that show the influence of French colonialism in Cambodia during the 1890s While the album begins with three views of Amélie les Bains Palalda France the remainder of the images focus on Cambodia and its western colonization There are approximately 34 images and one map entitled Cochinchine et Cambodge that document the land buildings people and celebrations of Cambodia during this time period 16 of the images focus on pagodas and palaces 13 on indigenous people and their occupations including soldiers elephant drivers Buddhist monks and carriers and five show celebrations Included are three images of the inauguration of the Silver Pagoda on 1 January 1894 and seven images of the Fête de Norodom King of Cambodia on 17 February 1894 Extent 1 0 album s 64
