    have a mentally ill loved one they are caring for Mental Illness does not discriminate All cultures ethnicities and socio economic classes are affected by mental illness While casseroles cards and companionship are rightfully offered to people struggling with physical illness the reality is that due to stigma those suffering from a mental illness often struggle alone Jesus Walks Alongside On the road to Emmaus Jesus came alongside two grieving disciples in great mental anguish Jesus walked with them He listened Eventually he spoke words of hope As a church community we believe we are called to do the same As they talked and discussed these things with each other Jesus himself came up and walked along with them Luke 24 15 Goals The Mental Health Action Team seeks to fulfill our vision as we Increase awareness and understanding through sound biblical and pastoral theology Source and share resources Provide education for the congregation Facilitate caring activities by welcoming people with lived experience or affected by mental health concerns supporting individuals families and caregivers with education information advocacy and companionship Activities Currently the Cedar Park Mental Health Action Team is working on the following caring activities The Family Room The formation of a peer support group called The Family Room This faith based group would provide a confidential space for family members from the South Delta Region to receive support as they journey with loved ones who are struggling with mental illness Resource Kit Creating an up to date resource kit containing a list of referral resources that are both local and located across the lower mainland Resources Below are a number of recommended resources Connect Children Imagine That Arts Camp Youth Young Adults The Porch LIFE Groups Quilters Contact the Mental Heath Action Team Email Us Sermon Series on
