    proud history as a stop on the Underground Railroad and as home of Camp William Penn Although comparatively small Cheltenham Township is rich in diversity truly acting as a microcosm of our country full of people of different racial religious social and economic backgrounds Cheltenham School District serves a population of nearly 37 000 residents in a 9 square mile area Like the Township the School District is highly diverse with an ethnic student body population consisting of 53 African American 35 Caucasian 7 Asian 4 Hispanic and 1 other races The District operates four K 4 elementary schools one 5 6 elementary school one 7 8 middle school and one high school serving approximately 4 700 students The District is fully inclusive and offers a wide range of Special Education services Having a record of high academic accomplishments Cheltenham School District was described by the U S Department of Education in 1998 as being a shining example of what s right with education Years later the District still lives up to the U S Department of Education s description with its high school offering the largest number of Advanced Placement courses in Montgomery County Upcoming Events Monday 9 00

    welcome you to learn why so many people enthusiastically CHOOSE CHELTENHAM by clicking on the Cheltenham Township and Library System tiles located within the District Hompage Information Center As a comprehensive district our schools are inclusive environments with exceptional teachers and support personnel Cheltenham School District K 4 students all enjoy brand new buildings with state of the art technology throughout Elementary learning includes nurturing and robust experiences in art music physical education and library skills in addition to a strong foundational structure in math language arts science and social studies Our middle years program is rich with hands on learning and holistic experiences that speak to adolescent needs From 5th to 8th grade students are inspired to become lifelong learners through collaborative educational and social experiences At the high school level students are encouraged to experience any one of our 31 Advanced Placement courses the most in Montgomery County Our rich menu of elective courses allow learners to explore personal areas of interest and possible career pathways Students are also welcome to delve into a trade or artistic avenue through involvement in the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology program While our school district is great it is about to become even greater thanks to exciting projects that are underway and on the horizon I am so excited to report that we are deep into a dynamic strategic planning process that promises bold results Our plan is focusing on five critical pathways Student Achievement Curriculum Instruction Holistic Experiences Professional Learning and Communications Engagement Over 100 stakeholders including community members teachers and students are committed to this important initiative Together we are working diligently to carve out a bright future for our district with innovative and engaging learning experiences at every level As we strategically plan for our future our
