    Opportunity The I Grace Company Commissioned Private Residences Inc I Grace and the Southern California Chapter of the ICAA are pleased to announce The 2nd Annual I Grace Scholarship Supporting Excellence in the Study and Practice of Artisanship and Architecture I Grace is a national builder of luxury private residences with offices in New York and Los Angeles It has been their longstanding belief that it is important to support the design community with whom they work so closely through professional organizations and charities I Grace believes this type of classical instruction will benefit the Southern California design community and that an understanding of the fundamentals of classical architecture will benefit an industry professional s overall skill whether they are classicists or modernists The 2 500 scholarship that I Grace will award applies to the 2011 Winterim Professional Intensive The Elements of Classical Architecture program at the ICAA national headquarters in New York City The scholarship which is comprised of two parts will include 1 500 to cover the entire cost of tuition and an additional 1 000 to offset travel expenses to New York City The 2011 Winterim session will commence on Friday January 28 2011 and will continue through Saturday February 5 2011 I Grace is supporting this intensive program in the principles of classical tradition of design to address the growing demand for this kind of training The Winterim session focuses on classical design core courses and is taught by professionals from the fields of architecture and the allied arts The program is suited for practicing architects who have prior professional training and field experience as well as students seeking to compliment their professional studies with classes in architectural classicism The program is balanced between drawing studios lectures and discussions and brief tours throughout New York City

    pleased to announce the inaugural John Russell Pope Awards celebrating excellence in classical architecture interior design and landscape architecture The Awards are named for John Russell Pope 1874 1937 best known as the architect of the Jefferson Memorial and the National Gallery of Art in Washington D C Pope s additional significant works include the National Archives Building Constitution Hall the Temple of the Scottish Right and Woodend a mansion in Chevy Chase Maryland He was born in New York and educated at the American School of Architecture in Rome later called the American Academy in Rome and the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris He was renowned for interpreting European classicism in a new American form Pope s domestic and monumental architecture established him as a leader in the development of highly refined and restrained classicism The Awards recognize the best work of individuals who contribute to the creation of classical and traditional architecture in the Washington Mid Atlantic region The Awards will be considered in the following categories New Residential Design under 5 000 square feet New Residential Design over 5 000 square feet Residential Renovation or Addition under 5 000 square feet Residential Renovation or Addition over

    Announcements Twitter Facebook RSS Feed Awards Prizes The Rieger Graham Prize The purpose of the Rieger Graham Prize is to advance the career and professional skills of a recent graduate or practitioner of architecture Applicants must demonstrate interest and training in the classical design tradition and the continuity of knowledge it embodies The prize will be awarded once every two years by a jury appointed by the ICAA The centerpiece of the prize is a three month Classical Design Fellowship at the American Academy in Rome the premier American overseas center for independent study and research in the fine arts and humanities The total award will include Academy fees travel allotment and award stipend The proposed three month stay must occur between September of the prize year and May of the following year The prize is open to United States citizens with a Bachelor of Architecture degree Master of Architecture degree or Master of Fine Arts degree prior to the start of the fellowship Click here for the application Award Three month Classical Design Fellowship at The American Academy in Rome Deadline Applications for the next Rieger Graham Prize will be accepted in late 2017 Eligibility Recent Graduates of Architecture

    Scholarship allowing a student selected by the faculty of its Department of Architecture the opportunity to attend one of the seven day intensive courses of study offered in New York City at the Institute s national headquarters Besides the direct pedagogical benefit to the recipient participation in this intensive session enables the student to return to Hampton University with an enhanced appreciation of the classical tradition and an ability to share this knowledge with fellow students and faculty alike The Marilyn and Ray Gindroz Foundation was established to provide opportunities to students of music and of architecture For the last three years the foundation has worked with the historically African American Hampton University s Department of Architecture to enrich its program with travel and study opportunities The scholarship provides subsidy for tuition accommodations as well as transportation to and from New York City from Hampton This full scholarship is granted to a deserving applicant based on the quality of his or her drawings and related accomplishment along with a statement of interest Past Hampton University Scholars 2014 Zachary Robinson 2013 Tabita Daolio 2012 Troy Barney 2011 James Ford III 2010 Latrina Alston Deadline and Decision Applications should be submitted directly

    offices outside the state of Texas may submit a project located in Texas if a good standing member of Texas Chapter of ICAA There is no requirement that projects be located in Texas for a Texas based practitioner All projects must have been completed between January 1 2005 and the time of submittal Each entrant may submit a maximum of five projects for consideration One can join the Texas Chapter of ICAA at the time of submittal www classicist texas org membership FEES Entry fee is 100 for the first project submitted and 75 for subsequent entries DESIGN CATEGORIES The jury will have latitude in defining categories of projects to receive awards and also in granting special citations Designers are encouraged to submit projects regardless of whether they fit neatly into the categories described below All projects are required to be constructed ARCHITECTURE Residential Architecture less than 5 000sf Includes single family houses smaller than 5 000 square feet Residential Architecture more than 5 000sf Includes single family houses larger than 5 000 square feet Multi Family Residential Includes all multi family projects up to 12 units Addition Renovation Includes all renovation addition and restoration work to residential architecture without historical consideration Historic Preservation Includes all renovation addition and restoration work to residential architecture with historical consideration Institutional Civic Ecclesiastic Commercial Architecture Includes all Institutional Civic Ecclesiastic Commercial Architecture and larger scale multi family projects INTERIOR DESIGN Residential Interiors Includes holistic interior design work within a residential context including those interiors completed within large multi family projects Commercial Interiors Includes holistic interior design work within a commercial institutional ecclesiastic context One Room Interior Includes interior design concentrated in a single room or tight sequence of conjoined spaces LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE Residential Landscape Includes orchestration of plant material and design of constructed
