    s best placing in history at the regatta Previous to their second place finish this year no George Mason crew had finished in the medals since a bronze medal by the Second Varsity 8 in 1998 No stranger to the podium after leading her Washington Husky Novice 8 crews to consecutive gold medals at Pac 12 Championships before moving over to George Mason this year O Driscoll was a member of the inaugural class of IRL graduates in the spring of 2012 At the ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championship in Worcester Annie Haley IRL 14 and her Third Varsity 8 from Wesleyan University also made school history with their first ever medal a bronze With another bronze medal from the week before at the New England Rowing Championships NERC her crew ended the season on the podium at both championship regattas Additionally sophomore Iryelis Lopez an alumna of CRI s Girls Row Boston program and graduate of John D O Bryant School of Math Science helped power the crew to both medal performances Incoming IRL Fellow Joe Gartland 16 also led his crew to success at the ECAC Championship as well with his Williams College Freshman Men s 8 to an open water victory in the Novice 8 race Coming off a silver medal the previous week at NERC his crew was able to make enough gains during the season s final week and push themselves to the top of a strong field to take home the title For more information on the Institute for Rowing Leadership please visit www IRLatCRI org Posted by on May 11 2015 Tags institute for rowing leadership coaching education 0 Comments Post your comment Your name Your email address will not be published Your website URL Comments Spam protection question what is two plus

    for me include Skratch http www skratchlabs com Nuun https nuun com and my homemade drink see below Time your hydration right You can t catch up with hydration So make a plan starting with at least glass of water first thing in the morning Then plan to drink at least 12 oz of fluid an hour before exercising Plan out to rehydrate during practice For an easy rule of thumb one large gulp generally equals one once of liquid Replenish as soon as possible Replace sweat loss as soon as you can after practice 2 or more of total body weight lost through dehydration can cause negative side effects like decreased performance and impaired concentration So refresh with water or a sports beverage even after you cross the finish line Homemade Electrolyte drink 12 oz water 1 8 teaspoon sea salt 2 tablespoons honey or agave ¼ cup lemon juice Blend or shake well until honey mixed in completely Serve cold Kelsea Gusk is the Registered Dietitian at Community Rowing Inc She is working to develop nutrition educational tools for all the athletes and programs at CRI She can be reached at Kelsea communityrowing org Posted by Kelsea Gusk

    earning their second consecutive NERC silver medal under his leadership Working throughout the race to chase down eventual champion Trinity College his crew rowed the Bantams down throughout the course but ran out of water to nose their bow in front before the finish line About his crew Gartland said I m very proud of my guys for a hard fought battle all the way down the course We ll go back to work this week with the image of Saturday s results in our heads and look to give it our best shot again this coming Sunday at ECAC s After our season concludes next weekend I am looking forward to joining the IRL and continuing to improve my coaching with the help of all the resources the program provides Additional IRL graduates fellows leading crews at NERC s were Julie Warren 14 Assistant Coach at Simmons College and Rachel Schlosser 15 coaching the Tufts University Novice Women The Advanced Certificate in Rowing Leadership program is a twelve month intensive active learning experience Fellows attend daily classes taught by top level instructors and coaches from universities including Harvard University Brown University Boston University Northeastern University and Syracuse University Before and after classes each day fellows put their knowledge into practice through a mentored assistant coach program coaching with world class coaches in youth collegiate and pre elite level rowing programs on the Charles River and throughout Boston The IRL program accepts applications twice annually with an early admission deadline in early January and a regular admission deadline in mid March More information on the program course structure instructors and application details can be found online at www IRLatCRI org ABOUT THE INSTITUTE FOR ROWING LEADERSHIP IRL CRI The Institute for Rowing Leadership based in Brighton MA at Community Rowing Inc is a one of a kind opportunity for leaders in rowing to study and share knowledge As the only sport specific graduate level education program in the USA the IRL provides an intensive yearlong post graduate fellowship program for selected applicants seeking the Advanced Certificate in Rowing Leadership The IRL fellowship program has a curriculum based on both academic and experiential learning methodologies with fellows spending 16 20 hours a week in the classroom learning from Boston area professors coaches and professionals and 16 20 hours a week on the water coaching and implementing lessons learned in the classroom The IRL identifies and develops future leaders for the sport equipping fellows with leadership and management training as well as the highest level of technical knowledge about the sport of rowing In addition the IRL provides additional community wide learning opportunities for continued professional development through monthly Coaching Education Series events highlighted by the annual What Works Summit held each February Additional information may be found at www IRLatCRI org Twitter IRLatCRI ABOUT COMMUNITY ROWING INC Rowing changes lives At Community Rowing Inc CRI the largest nonprofit rowing organization in the United States serves more than 7 000 rowers annually
