    from Agganis at 1024 Commonwealth Ave is a small café with all the options needed for pre 2K nerves A full breakfast menu Grilled Veggie and Cheese Breakfast Sandwich fruit and yogurt or even a small smoothie may be just what is needed to fuel up for the last 500 2 Shaw s Supermarket at 1065 Commonwealth Ave is on the same side of the street at the arena and is a large easy to navigate grocery store Pick up some whole grain crackers Gatorade or your favorite protein bar during a quick walk outside This is my personal go to on day off to get up a few hours before the race and grab an easy snack 3 Panera Bread at 888 Commonwealth Ave might be more familiar an option for out of towners You can get a simple grilled cheese or your favorite soup for before an afternoon race time Avoid any fiber heavy salads or cream based soups as they might not get enough time to full digest before the race time Before any 2K race on the erg food should be consumed at least 2 hours prior to warm up time Depending on your size aim for 100 350 calories worth of mostly simple carbs with a little amount of protein A hydration plan is also important make sure to have consumed at least a liter of water prior to race time with enough time to plan for your last bathroom break prior to searching for a warm up erg Good luck and race hard Kelsea Gusk is a newly hired Registered Dietitian at Community Rowing Inc She is working to develop nutrition educational tools for all the athletes and programs at CRI She can be reached at Kelsea communityrowing org Posted by Kelsea Gusk RD
