  • Lessons - Courtesy Stable
    instruction is to provide the foundation for a lifetime of horsemanship The cost of a one hour private lesson varies You decide when and how many lessons are right for you Lessons involve total horsemanship not just riding The following are the basics of what is covered in the beginner level lessons Fundamentals of horsemanship Horse safety Grooming Tacking your horse Types of tack and how to use it The first lesson will involve an evaluation of the student and will focus on building a strong foundation The student will learn how to groom tack a horse The remainder of the lesson will cover proper mounting correct positioning and riding at a walk Further lessons will review ground handling and will then progress to riding at a trot jog and then at a canter lope Lessons will focus on proper form position and balance Students will progress at their own individual level Lessons will proceed to more advanced riding as the student becomes more proficient Reqirements Footwear Courtesy Stable recommends all students wear hard soled shoe with a heel at all times while working around and riding horses Helmets All students must wear a riding helmet at all times when mounted Courtesy Stable recommends all riders purchase and wear a riding helmet with a full harness and chin strap If you do not have your own helmet we will provide the use of a helmet for you Please note Children students under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible guardian at all times while on Courtesy Stable premises Adults must remain during the duration of the lesson NO SMOKING in or around the barn PETS Please leave your pets at home Our horses are capable of handling riders 180 lbs or les s Barn Days

    Wissahickon Benny the Cat Horses in the Park at Ales for Trails more The Login Is Reserved for BSCS Board Members Only Thank You Email Password Remember Me Forgot Password Adrienne Adrienne Morella Brason Adrienne Morella Brason is a member of the United States Equestrian Federation as well as the United States Dressage Federation She is a 36 year old lifelong equestrian starting out with her adorable Pinto pony Cupcake at the age of 2 She then competed with their family horse a half Arabian mare Rasheyda through the levels of 4 H and competed at the State Championships More recently she has competed in Hunt Seat Western Pleasure Trail and Dressage and is currently competing with her Arabian gelding King at 2nd level dressage She is also schooling other horses ranging from problem cases to prepping other horses for show Adrienne is comfortable with all breeds all ages of riders and is very in tune with horse health and temperament She believes in a slow steady progression of work and a diligent method of horse care Proper grooming tack care and stable maintenence are some other topics covered during each session She has regional Championships within the Arabian Horse

    Winter in the Wissahickon Benny the Cat Horses in the Park at Ales for Trails more The Login Is Reserved for BSCS Board Members Only Thank You Email Password Remember Me Forgot Password Chelsea Chelsea Catalanotto began riding when she was 8 years old and has worked with many different horses in different disciplines When she was 13 Chelsea won a writing contest and used the contest money to buy her first horse a thoroughbred gelding named Derby who she trained and competed with throughout middle and high school At 15 she worked as an exercise rider for polo ponies at the Tinicum Park Polo Club In college she was Captain of the Sarah Lawrence Equestrian Team After graduating Chelsea worked as a barn manager exercise rider and instructor at private facilities in Doylestown PA and has worked as a professional groom for trainer and judge Shane Ledyard She has taught lessons at both summer camps and private farms and has instructed both children and adults Chelsea competed for many years in the hunter ring but her favorite thing to do is hack cross country Chelsea believes that a good ride starts in the cross ties meaning that care of
