    strongly oriented towards the original choreography by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot and at the same time embodies the freshness and timelessness of Romantic ballet The set design by Peter Farmer equally follows the traditional aesthetics Patrice Bart s Giselle premiered at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in 2000 Choreography and Production Patrice Bart nach Jean Coralli und Jules Perrot Sets and Costumes Peter Farmer Orchester Staatskapelle Berlin Dancing Solisten und Corps de ballet des Staatsballetts Berlin Musical Direction Marius Stravinsky Giselle Polina Semionova Albrecht Alexander Jones Act I A village in the midst of celebrations Giselle one of the pretty girls of the village has fallen in love with a handsome youth who comes from elsewhere She does not know who he is He calls himself Loys However Hilarion who admires Giselle and rendered perspicacious by jealousy suspects that he is a nobleman Everyone dances Giselle s mother fearing that her daughter s fragile health will suffer from her passion for dancing recounts the tale of the unhappy Wilis who dying before their wedding day are condemned to dance each night until the break of dawn Giselle laughing at her mother s fears continues to dance and in the presence of her handsome suitor is crowned Queen of the festivities The Prince of Courland passing by with his retinue stops before Giselle s house and requests a drink His daughter the princess Bathilde is the fiancée of Albrecht Duke of Silesia who is none other than the young man who Hilarion arrives to denounce having found his rival s sword bearing his crest Giselle utterly shocked by this revelation loses her reason and dies Act II At night a tombstone surmonted by a cross The gamekeepers are playing at dice Hilarion arrives mourning for Giselle Then a church chimes

    performances Schließen 13 03 2016 18 00 Staatsoper im Schiller Theater Berlin 120 minutes incl 1 break Ballet by Gregor Seyffert after Antoine de Saint Exupéry Welcome to the world of Antoine de Saint Exupéry Join our students on a fascinating journey The Little Prince leaves his planet out of unrequited love and travels through the universe searching for friendship humanity and love His questions to the world his experiences with it illustrate It is only with the heart that one can see rightly what is essential is invisible to the eye At the end of his journey into the adult world he finds the strength to return to his planet and to his love It has been a decade long tradition that every year the students of the Staatliche Ballettschule Berlin present the results of their training on the stages of the opera houses of Berlin with a festive gala From the youngest to the graduates all students are part of a show which presents the many facets of a professional dance education and which also requires the adolescent artists to demonstrate their capabilities and their joy for a unique profession Under the artistic direction of Berlin Kammertänzer Gregor
