    based practices that support families and enhance the optimal development of young children 0 8 who have or are at risk for developmental delays and disabilities DEC is an international membership organization for those who work with or on behalf of young children 0 8 with disabilities and other special needs and their families Social Media Home Get Involved Special Interest Groups Join A SIG Join A SIG DEC Special Interest Groups SIGs are autonomous communities of professionals and families created within and by DEC members SIGs are formed to foster connections further knowledge and engage in conversations and activities around a common interest SIGs are not charged with any formal DEC initiatives however they may support and collaborate on DEC activities that fall within the SIG s shared interest As a DEC member you can join as many SIGs that interest you The list below provides a brief description of the current SIGs Please visit individual SIG pages for more information and to sign up for that SIG s listserv and get involved EARLY INTERVENTION A forum where providers administrators students and faculty can discuss early intervention Part C issues and share activities and resources RESEARCH TO PRACTICE A forum that provides opportunities for researchers practitioners parents and other consumers of research to share ideas learn new methods develop collaborations learn about events and resources and enhance research and work with young children with special needs their families and those who work with them LEADERSHIP A forum to communicate collaborate and share resources and ideas with individuals who have an interest in leadership as a concept or a practice and want to affiliate with others to develop leadership capacity in themselves and in the field of early childhood special education PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT A forum for dialogue about topics related
