    in January 2013 Daybreak staff learned that Lisa was sleeping in a tent along the Okmulgee River where climbing a wall to get to the riverbank each day was exacerbating her pain Lisa said that she was trying very hard to maintain her recovery but that the pain was becoming unbearable She was referred to the nurse practitioners at the Daybreak Clinic who helped Daybreak staff understand her pain level and that she needed to follow up with a medical specialist Community involvement is the key to Daybreak s success so staff asked supporters for help and advice Dr Rowe a local surgeon agreed to see Lisa He confirmed she had broken hardware as well as other back problems He agreed to do a follow up operation and advocate for her with the Medical Center As a result the costs of Dr Rowe s services and the hospital stay were waived A hotel agreed to supply respite housing for two months at 100 a week A volunteer provided funding for the first month at the hotel and the Society of St Vincent de Paul covered the second month Volunteers supplied Lisa with meals During the week volunteers or staff would
