  • to ensure maximum quality Second I wanted the freedom to choose the students for the second class to meet the needs of our parish and school My goal is to train and form at least one leader in each movement of the parish Seeing the progress of my students during the first course I became convinced and even more motivated to expand the course to a bigger scale I want to offer the course to the 120 students of the fourth and fifth grade in our parish elementary school Is this a realistic vision now I often ask myself The answer is unclear At the infrastructure and manpower level it is clear that my 10 foot by 10 foot office a small generator and a few computers would not suffice for that kind of a project I would need a new building to house a much larger computer lab I also would need software and 10 to 20 computers I would need a much bigger generator that can power at least 10 computers The list goes on and I realized that I had not considered maintenance and a continuation plan of the course after my return to the United States in two months At the school if I were to make the course a reality we would have to adjust the school schedule to make time for it That change would involve our pastor bishop and perhaps the director of diocesan inspection Many considerations and so little time left to do them The old church building can be repaired to house a new computer lab I could use open software that is free of charge Assistants could well be those whom I have trained I have plenty of options namely my competent students in the first and second classes and the priests at the parish if they choose to do so I don t foresee any opposition or objection for a few reasons First we are a private Catholic school and can change our school s policy or its curriculum more easily than a public school Plus we would be investing in the education of the youth which our diocese desires Third I am sure that once the course is up and running and adjusted to the curriculum with all the implements needed we could raise our school fee to cover the expenses of maintenance and paying the assistants The major obstacle is finding financial means to repair the old church and to purchase computers a generator and a few miscellaneous items We need about 20 000 US It is a large amount but it will do tremendous good for our students and the community at large But where am I to find that much money I presented my plan with all my calculations to my pastor To my surprise he had something similar in mind He has his plan of turning the old church into a library and there still remains plenty of space for a computer lab I
