    Online DOS store Close Sign in to manage your membership Email Password Remember me Close eBird Recent eBird sightings Close Downloadable fieldtrip schedule PDF All Events This event has passed POSTPONED Great Cypress Swamp After Dark May 30 2015 7 00 pm May 31 2015 12 00 am Event Navigation Triple Header Night Annual DOS Picnic and Delaware Bird A Thon Awards Ceremony PLEASE NOTE This trip has been postponed updates will be given when available We apologize for the inconvenience Cypress Swamp After Dark Saturday 30 May 7 pm Midnight Leader Chris Bennett Anthony Gonzon Kitt Heckscher Jim White Meet at the Roman Fisher Farm Rt 54 just south of Daisy Road directions below Join us for an exploration of birds insects and amphibians after dark in the Great Cypress Swamp of Delaware s deep south Delaware Wild Lands is once again hosting this joint trip of the Sussex Bird Club and Delamarva Ornithological Society This trip not only includes a search for nocturnal birds but also a wade into the swamp in search of breeding amphibians last year we found lots of the rare Barking Treefrog and a vapor light set up to attract night flying insects Last year the lights attracted more than two dozen beautiful Luna Moths Participation is limited to 10 members from each club so sign up early to insure your space Contact Chris Bennett at cpb2564 gmail com to reserve your space Bring a pair of hip boots or waders for the amphibian portion of the trip or clothes and shoes that can get wet There are restrooms at our meeting place but not in the swamp We ll be in a swamp at night you might want to bring insect repellent Directions From Selbyville Take RT 54 Cypress Road CR 60 west
