    Birders Club Winter Spring 2016 Activities To register for a field trip email delawaredunlins gmail com Winter Holiday Party Sunday January 24 2 00pm 5 00pm Ashland Nature Center Join us for birding fun after the busy holiday season Presentations by your fellow Dunlins photo quizzes and suet making Bring a snack AND a friend South to North Saturday February 27 9 00am to 4 00pm Explore the Delaware Coast during a full day adventure Starting in the South at the Indian River Inlet and working our North we will visit top winter birding spots like Silver Lake Cape Henlopen and Prime Hook Exploring Ashland Sunday March 6 10 00am 12 00pm Check out the feeders from inside the nature center and our NEW bird blind Search for birds in the marsh and hike up into the hills for fantastic views Bring your binoculars AND cameras Spring Migration at Middle Run Friday April 1 8 00am to 10am No fooling spring break is a great time to find birds at Middle Run Search for new songbird arrivals early nesting activity hard working woodpeckers and more New Castle County Big Day April 30 May 8 is Delaware Bird A Thon Week Sunday May 1 8 00am to 5 00pm Are you ready for a birding adventure Take on the challenge of a Big Day where we try to observe as many species as possible in ten hours afield in New Castle County Compete against other teams and help to raise funds for the Delaware Bird A Thon Birds are at peak diversity in Spring Migration and we plan to top 100 species for the day Mother s Day Walk at White Clay Creek Sunday May 8 8 00am 11 00am Excellent way to celebrate moms Enjoy spring migration at a DE hotspot Park fees in effect Red Knots and Friends at Mispillion Sunday May 22 10 00am to 1 00pm Gather at the best place on the East Coast to observe the amazing Red Knots as they fuel up for the flight to their Arctic breeding grounds Visit the DuPont Nature Center at Mispillion Harbor then enjoy a stroll along Slaughter Beach to experience the Horseshoe Crabs congregating Bring a picnic lunch and your camera Father s Day Foray DOS trip Sunday June 19 8 00am 12 00pm Join Ian Stewart as he investigates the nest boxes of Coverdale Farm to check nest boxes for eggs and nestlings of a variety of species and also band some of the nestlings and perhaps adults too Walking the trails should also give us good views of most of the common birds found in Delaware during the summertime making this the perfect trip for beginning birders and families Fathers get a free gift The Delaware Dunlins Youth Birders Club is sponsored and supported by the Delmarva Ornithological Society DOS Field Trips are for school aged youth accompanied by their parent or guardian Trips are led by experienced and certified instructors with a passion for
