    with enthusiasm At 11am Patrick came in to the culture house to do some work in uploading photos and reports and sending them out to Lincoln and Deventer and also to the European House of Arts webmaster He realized he had lost the battery to the cam corder and searched his bag and then went to his accomodation to search high and low His late night dancing session with the Hungarian folk group yesterday and their palinka had taken its toll and he only got out of the pickle as one of the festival team found it or should I say bought it back of the young guys who found it She paid them 2000 Forint for it which is about 9 Euros and saved us the trouble of having to go to Budapest two hours away and buy a new one for 120 Euros Patrick has a new family name Palinka All s well that ends well and we all went to eat at the school cantine together The afternoon childrens open air fun time was packed and began with the results of the Irish dance workshop on the stage next to the school and then the local dance group with performances with an adult group and a childrens group who showed their talent and did a wonderful performance There were many stands for children to get face painting done and other childrens activitiers like the old traditional egg and spoon race The Theatre gave another game workshop for the kids and then a thunder storm quietened things down around mid afternoon A short breather for all and then the show goes on A children s song competition began and all of them got a prize And then the local Roma dance group performed with two musicians Their sense

    a professional painter and Miguel although a drummer got Beas whole studio to himself Plenty of space with a table football game When we got to Bekirs host family there was already cake on the table for us to eat Iren the mother of Bekirs host family speaks Russian and we interviewed them speaking Russian Although Patrick and Bob didnt understand what on Earth they were talking about the situation was very nice and the cake tasted great Ingo is staying at a host family of mother and daughter and grandmother Ingo is a typical bachelor and his jeans are all a bit worn out So grandma after washing his clothes set about repairing all the holes and worn out parts of all three trousers he has on the Culture Trail Marianna the mother has shelves full of medals and cups for diving competitions all over the world She came to Hungary 22 years ago from Romania and granny has been with her now for the past few years The last one on the list was Peter His host family is also a wine making family called Farkas who makes his own palinka as well as cheese and all sorts of sausage meat The grandfather of the family was interviewed with Peter together and although they do not understand what the other is really saying their communication functions perfectly Except that Peter cannot keep up with Papa Farkas when the palinka bottle comes out During the afternoon Philippe Ingo Miguel Jonathan and Peter met the local Roma musicians and jammed with them everyone picking up some new ideas and enjoying playing together Robert continued his experimental meetings with the local dance group and at 4pm a round table discussion began on the topic of Europe About 60 people were present
