    Philadelphia s first feminist radio show Learning to Fly Sharon was a producer for the groundbreaking series broadcast on WHYY FM She was the founding director of the Penn Women s Center before returning to television where she became the first female cinematographer at KYW TV3 After 10 years at television stations in Philadelphia and Baltimore Sharon left commercial broadcasting to pursue documentary production Sharon has been a board member and workshop leader for the Philadelphia Independent Film Video Association and an instructor at the Scribe Video Center Her editorial work has appeared in the SILVERDOCS Film Festival the Human Rights Watch Film Festival the DoubleTake Documentary Festival and the Philadelphia Festival of Independents Sharon is co founder of extendedPLAY inc Ann Tegnell and Albert Maysles at the CINE 5 on 5 for 5 Pitch Contest Ann Tegnell is an Academy Award and Emmy nominated producer director and editor She has worked extensively in television at post production facilities but it is working as an independent that suits her best Ann recently completed post on the moving and playful Hollywood Beauty Salon with Glenn Holsten The Hollywood Beauty Salon is a tiny beauty parlor where men and women undergoing treatment for mental illness and addiction gather to have their hair done share stories and support each other as they rebuild their lives Hollywood Beauty Salon tells their stories of struggle from darkness to light in a novel kind of documentary a hybrid form combining vérité with highly crafted sequences employing animation fantasy and dramatic reenactment all created by the subjects themselves A year earlier saw the launch of The Barefoot Artist with Glenn Holsten and Daniel Traub as producer directors The film documents two sides of artist Lily Yeh s life her international ventures mending the broken and helping to heal weakened spirits in communities in North America Africa China and India and a personal journey within to repair her own fractured family Completed in 2013 and now airing nationally on the PBS program Global Voices is Ninos de la Memoria Children of Memory made with producers Kathryn Smith Pyle and María Teresa Rodríguez Co funders for Niños include the Independent Television Service ITVS Latino Public Broadcasting and the Sundance Institute where Kaye María and Ann were 2011 Fellows at the Sundance Documentary Edit and Story Lab Now airing on a PBS station near you is Making Waves with producer director Frances McElroy This doc looks at access affordability and diversity in the sport of rowing Collaborations currently underway include STRATHMERE also with co produced with Frances McElroy which explores the value and fate of a quirky South Jersey shore town Short works for Philadelphia arts and non profit organizations with producer Glenn Holsten include LACE for The Design Center at Philadelphia University s Lace in Translation exhibit twenty four 5 minute sketches of the 2007 and 2008 Pew Fellows spark a promotional piece for the American Association of Museums a series demonstrating the instruments and passions of Piffaro The
