  • Ongoing Help for the People of Haiti in the Aftermath of the Earthquake
conceived or in utero at the time of the earthquake I noticed to my surprise that they seemed to react to the Fear Less spray more than to Five Flower Formula or Post Trauma Stabilizer I think this is due to the Red Clover because in a sense a baby receiving a collective trauma in utero is a form of mass hysteria where the fear jumps from one person to the next The Green Rose will also help get them back to earth Here is a dramatic illustration of the power of the flower essences a baby of one month was brought to the clinic diagnosed at the hospital with yellow fever The infant was breathing rapidly and labouredly was entirely apathetic and limp eyes closed and covered in a heat rash I gave him a dose of Aconite 200 C which matched the fever symptoms which made him open his eyes a tiny bit for one second for the first time revealing them to be turned up While he also made a few movements with his limbs I was not exactly impressed by the change in life force As I was waiting for my translator to explain to a rather unwilling female maybe a relative who had brought him in about giving a sponge bath to the baby I decided it could never be wrong to treat intrauterine trauma even at the brink of dying from yellow fever I put a drop of Post Trauma Stabilizer with Evening Primrose added on his lips and his eyes popped open actually trying to focus and he started to wave his arms and legs Then he swooned back into his fever delirium I then sprayed him with the Fear Less spray To my complete surprise his eyes now popped open entirely and in the way a one month old infant can he looked at us and did not cease to wave his arms and legs for the rest of the consultation When we saw him again in the afternoon his fever had gone down considerably and he no longer appeared limp or dazed at all While this is the most dramatic effect I saw with the Fear Less spray I noticed with most other infants who received the trauma in utero that they reacted most strongly in terms of opening their eyes becoming lively or smiling when sprayed with the Fear Less formula rather than receiving other essence combinations By contrast most children under ten who said they were scared and had nightmares from the earthquake preferred Post Trauma Stabilizer over Fear Less This was strikingly true at an orphanage where some children had landed after the earthquake but many children were already there during the earthquake and were very scared We added Evening Primrose to the flower essence combination of any child under two years of age Soothing the heart of suffering the role of Benediction Oil We decanted the Benediction Oil into 1 oz plastic containers so we could provide

  • Animal Case Study: Maize; From Panic Stricken to Confident and Competent
much noise at the same time as too much activity I would really like to see her wag her tail Flower essence formula Larch for continued improvement in her confidence Mimulus for her fear of sudden movements and loud noises like pans banging etc Oregon Grape for trust Although Maize isn t hostile I still felt that she may benefit from Oregon Grape With her background of lack of socialization during her puppyhood and living in a kennel I felt that she lacked the ability to completely trust us and accept love from us I think that deep down she expects that she will be abandoned as I think she may have felt when her breeder owner was unable to spend time with her at a crucial juncture in her life I believe that she is protecting herself from disappointment and doesn t expect permanent unconditional love from humans Indian Pink for being able to maintain her composure during times of increased activity June 28 Emerging trust and playful with others Maize continues to show improvement with her confidence There is a definite improvement in her reaction to activity in the house Although she is still alarmed with very loud noises she is much better with everyday noises and activities such as drawers and cabinets closing plates clanking etc She will acknowledge the noise but doesn t panic as she did before She continues to appear social when around other people at home and away When she is on a leash she appears to be completely normal when on walks and at training She has started to come when called which I attribute to the Oregon Grape Maize is more interested in treats than ever before and she is much more trusting in allowing people to pet her She will also now approach people and is not frightened as she was prior She can be a little timid at times but that has also improved She continues to approach us to ask for treats and to be petted The most significant improvement however is that Maize has initiated play with the other dogs She assumes play position and jumps on the other dogs in a playful fashion and runs around the yard with them For the first time since her arrival her tail is not tucked under her body and she has wagged her tail four times She is holding her ears high on her head which shows me that she is much more confident I would like to see her wag her tail more Flower essence formula Mallow was given to help with her social insecurities Indian Pink was used again to help her cope with intense activity going on around her Larkspur was given to generate confidence and charisma August 1 Initiating contact with others Within a few weeks I noticed improvements including Maize s interest in staying around us more than usual A few weeks after that Maize no longer laid in the laundry room or under Grace s bed She has ventured out into Nicole s bedroom where she enjoys her company and felt comfortable enough to sleep under her desk On another occasion she came into my room and laid on the floor next to my bed Apparently she felt quite at ease as she promptly jumped right on the bed and waited for me to lay next to her She seemed to WANT to be around us more often She has been following me around When I took her for her first real walk she did fabulously The breeder offered Grace the opportunity to keep Maize and co own her with the breeder Of course Grace said yes We are thrilled that Maize will be with us for the rest of her life No changes in the flower essence formula were made at this time September 8 Breeding Maize At the beginning of September Maize came into season and was returned to the breeder on September 8th for breeding The breeder noted Maize s demeanor and said that she did very well at her house The essences were not used while at the breeder s home When Maize returned to our home I decided to keep her on the same formula with the addition of Larkspur for her pregnancy to promote the Larkspur characteristics in her puppies October 17 Nurturing more joyful qualities Maize continues to do well at home and at training She still enjoys being around us and tolerates the typical household noise fairly well I think that she could still enjoy life more I would like to see her wag her tail more Flower essence formula Cherry to bring out the puppy in her I would like to see her have more fun and experience the puppyhood that she seemed to have missed or forgotten Larkspur for confidence and to pass along those qualities to the puppies Zinnia for joy I would like to see Maize wag her tail more and be more joyful October 23 2008 Physical and behavioral signs of confidence We took another weekend trip to Wisconsin Again she felt very comfortable there She spent very little time in her crate and would come up to us OFTEN asking to be petted She started wagging her tail frequently and with more vigor She also started carrying her tail higher on a regular basis There is also a notable improvement again in her reaction to noises Her ears are carried higher on her head and she has a sparkle in her eye Shortly after that Maize started coming when called on a regular basis She asks to be petted more frequently than previously She is wagging her tail more and is very excited to see us when we come in the door Most notably however is the fact that she has started to bark with the other dogs when the doorbell rings or someone comes in the house On November 4th I added Walnut to her formula to aid

  • Combining Several Modalities for Physical Healing with Flower Essence Therapy
censorship and she is unable to find her voice The Larch essence particularly heals the throat and perhaps will help her to bring out her partially hidden voice Gorse This will help her to overcome her chronic experience of pessimism and despair bringing her hope and renewal Buttercup VAE is not someone who feels like she shines on the contrary she has feelings of low self worth and self doubt she is in doubt about her true vocation In spite of her achievements she always shows restraint and never feels her contributions are good enough This essence will help her overcome her shyness and will give her an increased sense of inner confidence and self worth when speaking to others Queen Anne s Lace This essence is helpful for many who are seeking balanced psychic opening and VAE has a great need to grasp reality on another level for example just as she perceived it at some moments in her childhood or does now when she smokes soft drugs It will also guide her in her life decisions Madia This young woman is easily distracted with an inability to concentrate to focus thoughts and intentions She must be able to narrow the consciousness and limit the experience Madia pulls the soul into its center so that the field of consciousness is pinpointed and focused Realization and Recognition Awareness of fears living in the present and manifesting intentions This has been a long dense and fruitful period with much coming and going and many stressful moments It extended from mid May to mid January 8 cycles She has had acupuncture been given homeopathic remedies and Seasons of Soul oils and Rescue Remedy Five Flower Formula a number of times Physically speaking she has exhibited some manifestations of fear on several occasions air in the heart chakra sporadic pain in a shoulder and short periods of insomnia in addition to dysmenorrhoea She verbalizes fear about the future of making mistakes and all that would entail of her relationship with her partner dreams about separation and jealousy of speaking in public of driving of flying she dreams of airplanes and accidents about having a stable life and of taking after her aunt Ana who is obsessive tense and talkative The word fear turns up almost as regularly as the uncertainty the maybes the demanding and the nostalgia for the past and anticipation for a future that has not yet been experienced Of the numerous positive aspects I wish to note The winning of a prestigious grant from La Caixa on the anniversary of her cousin s death Her attitude becomes more positive and less anxious She quits her job selling coffee The commencement of a stressful process of submitting applications for admission to 10 American universities and the corresponding interviews at present she has been accepted by nearly all of them She paints her room and changes its furniture She lives more in the present the controlling and number of questions made in the sessions decreases She begins to qualify emotions using words like jealousy resentment guilt fury hate sadness forgiveness She sees clearly that many of her attitudes are an exact replica modeled after her father In spite of the ups and downs in the difficult relationship she maintains with her father she learns to assert herself and in turn after a year he tells her that she will be accepted anywhere She speaks of the painful relationship with the brother who assumes the father s defensive attitude and her attempts to speak frankly to him She discovers new facets of her mother she is demanding and makes her feel guilty about her brother she conveys negative feelings about the father her jealousy of her professional success the trouble she goes through to prepare food for her She speaks more of the relationship with her partner which has its ups and downs and fears although it appears that she has now made up her mind to concentrate on her career For the first time she has had moments in which she felt creative happy without any doubts about her intentions and of having made a wise decision in choosing her career She is beginning to wear brighter colors is better groomed and a little more feminine though still austere She passes the test for her driver s license in spite of the feelings of panic it gave her just a year ago During this stage she has many dreams of all of her family her partner friends extraterrestrial aliens airplanes career Her dream world is a reflection of her real world In the way of essences I would highlight the use of Scleranthus As earlier For her indecision and to balance her masculine and feminine sides Walnut As before and especially because her father continues to be an important point of reference Wild Oat Administered for the same purpose as in the previous stage Willow This will continue to act on her distrust of everything such as not believing it when she was awarded the scholarship just like the father Heather To fill the needy little girl in her and still the inner dialogue the anxiety the hint of hypochondria when she is too absorbed in her own problems Rock Rose This essence will help her to have more inner force and break down the outer shell giving up controlling everything and dilute the panicky feeling she often suffers from Buttercup Used for the same purpose as in the previous stage Queen Anne s Lace A key essence that has provided her with focus and orientation has improved her physical and emotional vision and has helped her to get a grounded connection with the physical world Shasta Daisy Given as written in the Flower Essence Repertory for her over intellectualization of reality especially seeing information as bits and pieces rather than parts of a whole VAE has the ability to perceive but has a hard time fitting things in This essence will provide harmony to the chaos and disorder of her home She admits that during this stage in which she has written numerous scripts it has helped her at times to have creative thinking which allows parts to form a meaningful whole Baby Blue Eyes VAE does not feel supported and loved especially by male figures father and brother with whom she often clashes And she is not in an ideal situation with her partner It will help to improve her low self esteem her feeling out of place and the fact that in a certain way she looks on women s traditional roles as inferior Her soul is helped in its healing by learning to recognize goodness in others and in the world and thus to become more accepting positive and open in its expressions and actions Mariposa Lily With Mariposa Lily she will feel the warmth and nurturing quality of her heart It will help her in developing a nurturing ability in all her relationships and allow her to have a warm and loving acceptance of herself and to improve and understand her mother daughter relationship Regarding her physical nourishment she says that her mother went hungry in her childhood and that since she has original tastes and her mother is on a diet cooking for her is an ordeal so she usually prefers either not to eat or to eat out Saint John s Wort For this long period of stress manifested by short periods of slight insomnia for her fearful or disturbed dreams and for her psychic and physical vulnerability This essence will help her to find the light that works within the Self as a spiritual force which can illumine and anchor the consciousness Shooting Star Although it was only administered once during the Practitioner program I think that this essence is basic for this young woman Among other things VAE suffered from a birth trauma and she feels a fascination for out of body experiences or she needs them and Shooting Star helps her to find her right connection to earthly life and come to understand the meaning of love which she seems to find so hard to understand Reaction Resistance and Reconciliation and Renewal and Reconstellation I think that in VAE s case neither of these two stages have been attained in a very clear way Although in some aspects a notable improvement has been observed greater contact with her emotions and with physical life are still necessary MMR developing self esteem committing to personal growth and alleviation of physical problems MMR is a twenty two year old dark haired girl with a slight sallow complexion Introverted pessimistic serious dazzled responsible punctual sensitive hesitant controlling with a little gloomy voice with a lot of interests and a philosopher according to her She comes to my sessions giving the impression of heaviness dressed in a slovenly way generally she does so in dark colors Her short toenails are painted in black MMR is a woman of profuse and vivid night dreams and also with a daytime yearning for flying MMR is the youngest daughter of an immigrant family from a humble background with a working father who is out all week long a mother with serious depressive tendencies who is basically at home and an elder sister who is going through a period where she needs to be paid attention to although she is the one who is receiving more attention from her parents She comes to my office because of a cephalea that affects her temporal and occipital left zones and which can result in migraines which have occurred almost daily for over a year This disturbance is accompanied by diffuse skeletal pains She also has an anal fissure in the process of remission and divergent strabismus predominantly in her left eye She reports later on that living with her family is a bit difficult and that the atmosphere at home is depressive anxious and with little understanding As she doesn t have many real friends or a serious relationship she feels the need to go abroad again to be happy During the one and a half year therapeutic process she has finished her studies in Translation and Interpretation and has worked hard in several jobs so that she could go ahead with her aspirations to improve her foreign language knowledge and so that she could be treated with a flower essence therapeutic process and visual therapy that could help her improve her visual health The most positive changes I observed since MMR started treatment are Important decrease in the frequency and duration of migraines from almost daily to one to three monthly ones Improvement in cervical and lumbar pain Substantial improvement in left eye coordination and control Improvement in her overall self esteem and particularly in her physical state Commitment and deepening into her process of personal growth MMR is the youngest of three sisters all three were born by caesarean section She has young parents and a curt uncommunicative and offensive mother who had eight siblings The parents are both emigrants coming from one of the most deserted provinces in Spain and their cultural and social level is rather low The main contribution to the family income comes from the father who works and lives out of the home nearly all week This has forced the three daughters who have nearly or already finished their educations to realize that they must earn a living and study Financial issues are always the reason for family arguments Internalized sadness is the key feeling in her family relationship The word rage would be the favorite to define what she feels when talking about her family a feeling that lessens with the flower essence treatment The treatment has allowed MMR to analyze the family situation more clearly in regard to the lack of love and expression of true emotions She describes constant arguing and shouting among the family members there is no communication and listening to each other After many therapy sessions she tells me that her parents would have liked her to be a boy instead of a girl when she was born After a year s treatment she has been able to verbalize that she was the only family member who was present at her mother s suicide attempt with a knife at her throat Her relationship with her father has improved a little throughout the therapy although he has always been absent In his wallet hers is the only photo that is missing When she comes to my office MMR is a young woman who is in her last courses of her Translation and Interpretation degree studies that she has paid for entirely by herself by working many different jobs She is very responsible and is very focused on her studies and work which causes her physical and psychological strain Although she is clear about going abroad to improve her Italian and English about coming back again to Barcelona she has got constant doubts about how to approach her future She suffers from a condition which can sometimes result in a very intense migraine From what she says she has been suffering from this disorder almost daily for more than a year now but medical tests turn out negative MMR considers herself to be a pessimist and often feels sad She feels proud of herself when things turn out well for her or when they turn out as she expects they will However she becomes confused or upset when things turn out otherwise Specifically in regard to her biography I noted the following to be significant Her birth by caesarean section with an uncorrected congenital defect divergent strabismus predominantly in her left eye seems significant to me She states that during her adolescence when she did not feel supported at all she wrote in her diary she hated her parents At sixteen her jaw is dislocated This event traumatized her quite a lot as no one paid attention to her Her departure to Italy when she was twenty to study at the University of Rome with an Erasmus scholarship leads her to discover part of her potential as a person and her ability for pleasure Later she comes back to an annoying inexpressive and sad home environment and she is the only witness to her mother s suicide attempt Physical symptoms lead her to therapy which uncovers emotional pain Physical symptoms and in particular her problems with migraines are her main reasons for consultation She feels mentally and physically exhausted and she does not know where to go She is sure that she wants to be happy finish her degree course and go abroad During many sessions she does not cry or laugh She feels anger and sadness At a non verbal level an important degree of sternness and heaviness is evident when walking Her introversion her shyness her fear of living and other fears her low self esteem and her need to be in control make her barely talk in the first sessions about her visual defect or her relationship problems at home In the last session after a year and a half of therapy MMR comments she comes to my office because she needed a change since she was very negative Surely this is the perspective she has after these months in which the main treatment has been carried out with Dr Bach s and FES flower essences Right from the beginning I tried to tackle as medium term goals improvement in her physical condition principally her problem with migraines and her skeletal problems think about how to correct her divergent strabismus and help her connect more with herself to know the origins of her emotions and more powerful conflicts sadness pessimism anger fear hypersensitivity Other goals to take into account in the future would be to help her improve her feminine expression and guide her in her professional future hesitation low self esteem In my opinion the fact that she is beginning to integrate parts of herself initiating changes and connecting with herself will help her find her place and purpose in life An overview of the MMR s soul development The Four R s of Flower Essence Response Release Relaxation or Rejuvenation Recovering health energy and positivity From mid March until mid August the most important changes I observed were Significant improvement of migraines from nearly daily to 2 4 monthly Improvement in cervical pain A more shiny and relaxed face She feels more positive She begins to be more attentive to her life people and things She does not think over things so much She feels more energy in her solar plexus The number of dreams increases except for two nightmares The majority are related to water fish She quits a job and an unsatisfying relationship with a close friend Among the essences administered those which played a more important role were Lilac Used to put straight and unblock not only the spine the head and the energy that circulates through them but also to align one s spirit and nourish it with positive thoughts removing grief oppression and fright that comes from long ago perhaps from childhood A feeling of dis ease lack of safety or a sense of holding back the true self often shows up as rigidity or pain in the spine The Lilac corresponding behavior pattern is that of someone who is constantly scanning the surroundings in case of danger Lavender This young woman has consciousness and a special sensitivity which makes her physical ailments worse Probably she takes up far more energy than can actually be processed through the body Like other people who suffer from headaches or vision problems and neck and shoulder tension Lavender has helped her ameliorate them Furthermore her irritability stress and fatigue levels have diminished On the other hand her interest in and practice of meditation materialized at the end of this treatment Her soul has learned to

  • flower remedies and added the following essences Crab Apple to eliminate the feeling of impurity and contamination For the self destructiveness caused by the obsession with perfection For the compulsive cleaning and tidying of the house with aversion to anything that was dirty or misplaced Sulphur Flower for clinging to negativity because of fear negative mental images are created Filaree from this moment on would reveal itself as the greatest essence for OCD essential to work on her perfectionism her exaggerated preoccupation with details the anxiety and the compulsion in repeating movements her methodical and obsessive behaviors and other rituals During this period S suffered another great trauma her youngest daughter separated from her husband after just one year of marriage The situation was repeated in the family again she had gotten through a separation and her two daughters as well It was a moment to which I remained very attentive and S questioned herself a lot Why did the three of us have to go through a marriage break up None of us gets to stay married However this time she had the help of flower remedies to overcome this pain According to her if she hadn t been going through flower essence therapy I would be desperate I don t know what I d do now if it weren t for the flower remedies It was important to realize that there wasn t a worsening of the obsessive symptoms and neither of the compulsions The flower remedies gave her the necessary support I begin to realize that S was less anxious She continued under great stress due to her daughter s separation but she managed to keep herself balanced Her speech was more paused and coordinated This was a very important period to observe the work of flower remedies in a crisis situation where the OCD symptoms could be aggravated The flower remedies did not allow her to lose focus by giving her the due proportion of the facts and letting her be free to act and think she greatly helped her daughter in the process of separation without being involved in the confusion of emotions and negative thoughts Not for a single moment did S lose control of herself or the situation She even reported the surprise of her daughters with her self control and effective help in the legal and emotional matters of the separation In the past her desperation would be of such a degree that her daughters would be the ones who needed to help her At this point in the therapy S already accepted and spoke more comfortably about the disorder This was one of the effects of the flower essences as well Together we discovered that the cleaning and tidying mania started soon after her marriage It became clear that she contaminated herself with it which got aggravated by a miscarriage episode that made her feel disgust at her ex husband and at herself The strong feelings of guilt for the miscarriage and the betrayals of her ex husband were extremely powerful traumas for S and they remain in her memory up until today as generators of the feeling of impurity and disgust at herself Stage III Reaction Resistance and Reconciliation Working through past traumas and suffering By working with the traumas and sufferings from the past my client entered this stage of healing when she identified her marriage as violent and injurious it caused her great tension for many years It was the cause of great corrosion to her nervous system and as time went by transformed her into an excessively anxious and stressed person Here S remained for a long time in the alchemical phase of calcination feeling anger and resentment towards her ex husband the cause of her inner process The flower essences included again I did not exclude any flower in the subsequent flower formulations were Pine for guilt about the miscarriage and for the condemnation toward her past Willow to stop mourning the broken marriage and the miscarriage and start taking responsibility for her actions in each one of these moments Holly for the devastation that she suffered with her marriage and the miscarriage episode and also because she was still stuck at that time in her life The role of faith in combating fear For about five months S remained well and kept her commitment to the therapy she used to miss many sessions She no longer felt the need to have trivial conversations with the intent of avoiding the central treatment issue which I consider another result of the flower remedies From that moment on I started to direct the psychotherapy and the flower remedies towards faith because the people who suffer this type of disorder really need to work spirituality with whatever beliefs they have According to S it was faith that had kept her going during the traumatic situations although I questioned this point of view For this reason I decided to work on her anchoring According to S her faith was unquestionable until that moment But the anxiety disorder the flower remedies and the psychotherapy forced her to re evaluate her points of view She told me that when her thoughts tormented her a lot she sang pontos de macumba which are prayers in the form of music they are mantras that allow contact with the spiritual world S made use of this strategy to calm down in moments in which she considered herself to be desperate What she failed to recognize was the fact that this was just another of her manias This particular one known as mental mania includes involuntary acts of a mystical nature to fight away bad ideas There is no real faith in this behavior it is just a mechanical act to prevent suffering and it is unfruitful because it lacks confidence in God s power S was surprised when she said that if she didn t do some type of ritual to get rid of a

  • A Journey with Flower Essences and Painting:
with the use of a walker and has a severe case of skin acne selected Crab Apple After the young women selected their essences each received a jar of Self Heal Creme with their chosen essence mixed into it Painting classes The series of three painting classes spanning over a 6 week period was adapted from a 10 week painting course During the first class the structure of the series and the medium was explained and the young women were asked to paint the flower that they had selected from the photographs The second class encouraged the students to use their imagination by painting an imaginary flower The last class was a study in colors and feelings and the young women were asked to express their feelings through colors We wanted to create an environment free of constraints Curriculum Class 1 Introduction and painting of flowers Explain the structure of the class the topics and medium selected etc Have students select a flower from a group of cards and draw the selected flower If times allows for it paint the same flower on both white and dark paper Make a list of the students and flowers selected Prepare creme to give to each student Class 2 Flowers II Inventing a flower Talk about abstract painting and show different examples of styles specifically related to flowers Close your eyes imagine your flower one that you have never seen before and paint it Class 3 Flower III Colors and feelings Have students select a new flower from a group of cards and capture only the colors and the feeling of the selected flower The selection could be different or the same as the first class in fact most kept their original flowers Make a list of the students and flowers selected Paint the selected flower Have the students select white or dark paper and paint the same flower on it Initial impressions of the first session Once they identified the flowers some of the students also made sure that they had the matching color for the flower before beginning to paint There seemed to be an immediate sense of ownership belonging The 45 minute class flew by most young women did more than one painting and seemed to really enjoy the activity We felt there was lively interaction going on among them and the room was buzzing with lightness and cheerfulness Art work examples and interpretation Based on the above background material and outline of this series the following are examples of the artwork and outcomes of the young women s experiences In order for the young women to understand the flower they chose while Daniela was working with them on their art projects Judy went to each student giving them their creme along with the picture of their flower and explained the qualities of the flower essence She also asked the young women what was happening in their lives so they could connect with the flower they chose For example one young woman who has a rare seizure disorder and is a wheelchair user picked Cerato She is very dependent on her mother and will not make a decision without asking others Judy shared this observation with her and she gave a big smile and said That s me Examples of the artwork are shown and described in this article Four of the watercolors from this class series are featured on note cards that are being sold at the IWD This has been a way to exhibit the young women s art work heighten public awareness of the Program and gain proceeds for future programming Participant J selected Desert Lily J has a partial leg disability she is ambulatory very quiet and keeps to herself Her brother is her legal guardian and her uncle takes her wherever she needs to go both parents are not in the picture and her grandmother died a few years ago She has very boyish features and dress When she picked the flower she continually smiled throughout the process When Judy explained the flower to J she asked her whether she ever feels pretty She said No but I would like to She was very serious in painting her flower At the second class J was more talkative than the previous week She shared that she liked being able to just paint from her imagination rather than trying to copy from a photograph After a few weeks using the creme she started to dress in a more feminine manner One week she did not attend the Program She reported that her aunt was doing her hair that afternoon and she wasn t able to come We were all delighted to see her new hairstyle She seemed lighter and engaging though still quiet This has carried over into the fall term as she dresses more femininely her hair is always done and she started to wear a bit more make up Most importantly her social life has improved she is studying hard in school and plans to go to a community college Nancy met with J a few weeks after the completion of the painting series and asked her about the flower that she painted She responded Class 1 I picked my flower because it reminded me of happiness prettiness My painting of sun clouds was because it was a nice day outside The heart symbolizes love kindness and the star is for sweetness All three symbolize myself who I am and who I want to be Class 2 I like colors and painting with them Colors show a range of emotions I like sky blue it brightens my day up Her artwork below right was selected as the YWP Logo for the brochure and is one of the four note card designs Class 3 The Desert Lily flower was because I was feeling happy I painted green white leaves because I saw a tree or flower like this I like painting classes I would like to
