    teaching interests include the areas of financial accounting and corporate social responsiblity At Bentley she currently serves as a Committee Member for the Accounting Department Advisory Board at Bentley University the Boston Accounting Recruiters Committee the Multicultural Scholarship Review Committee and is a Task Force Member for the Faculty Honors Council Karen is also a Committee Member for the American Accounting Association Prior to working at Bentley University Karen was an auditor at Ernst Young She resides in Southborough with her husband Karen will be joined by our panelists Melanie Camp Senior Major Gifts Officer at Combined Jewish Philanthropies CJP manages a portfolio of the Boston Jewish community s highest capacity donors and prospects focusing on growing current use planned and endowment gifts as well as donor advised funds Prior to joining CJP Melanie served as the Director of Partnerships for the GreenLight Fund a venture philanthropy organization focused on importing innovative social enterprise models with demonstrated results in the local community Before joining the GreenLight team Melanie managed special events and the Young Professionals group at the Boston Public Library Foundation nbsp Melanie is a proud mentor and board member with Silver Lining Mentoring and a member of the GreenLight Fund Selection Advisory Council nbsp She earned her B A from University of Massachusetts Amherst and is a member of the LeadBoston class of 2011 Melanie and her family reside in Boston Justin Kang is the Executive Director of City Awake a nonprofit organization focused on building the ecosystem of civic engagement and social innovation throughout Greater Boston Recognized by the Boston Globe Boston Magazine and the City of Boston Justin started his career as an associate at MassChallenge where he learned the importance of community building He remains the Industry Champion Dean of Students for the Social Impact track at MassChallenge He later joined Opportunity Nation as a national organizer around economic mobility issues Most recently he was a customer success manager at Yesware A graduate of Brandeis University Justin is on the Massachusetts board of Generation Citizen an active Big Brother and a New Leaders Council fellow Trevor Pollack joined Barr in 2014 to support the president with a range of work across the Foundation including Cross Program Initiatives grantmaking He also co manages the Barr Fellows program and supports the Foundation s communications efforts Prior to joining Barr he served as associate director for institutional giving at the Handel and Haydn Society a professional chorus and period orchestra and America s oldest continuously performing arts organization In his five years there he was responsible for all foundation corporate and government relations In addition to his work at Barr Trevor serves as vice chair of the Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy EPIP Boston Chapter and on the Associated Grant Makers AGM Program Committee and he sings in the Back Bay Chorale He served on the Chorale s strategic planning committee and has also volunteered for Keshet which works toward LGBTQ inclusion in the Jewish community A proud Cleveland native he earned a bachelor s degree in music from Brown University Katherine Scott joined the Frieda C Fox Family Foundation to lead Youth Philanthropy Connect a national program connecting and supporting youth grantmakers ages 8 21 and the adults who support them Katherine came to the Foundation from the Boston Foundation where she managed an online platform for donors profiling best practices of nonprofits and building the capacity of nonprofit leaders Previously she has worked at other foundations in organizational effectiveness training nonprofit leaders and donor services Katherine is excited to have her career come full circle as she began her experience in philanthropy in high school as a Youth Advisory Council member and leader for In Youth We Trust at the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois She holds a BA from Wittenberg University and an MA in Philanthropic Studies from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and MPA in Nonprofit Management from SPEA from Indiana University Indianapolis Katherine serves as the due diligence chair and a board member of a private founder of the Student Support Foundation creating youth philanthropy clubs that teach students that small gifts given properly do matter Carrie will share the inspiring story of her family s tradition of philanthropy and the unique vision and success behind her organization We are delighted to have honored Needham resident Clair Windsor with our Young Philanthropist award Clair has strong ties to MetroWest having been raised in Newton and now as a mother raising three young children with her husband Eric in Needham Her spirit of volunteerism and philanthropic engagement in a wide range     make a gift you become part of a permanent endowment helping your community forever Do you love where you live Many of us feel strong ties to a town or community and want to make sure that it continues to be a wonderful place to live As a result communities around MetroWest have set up Town Funds One of the Foundation for MetroWest s major initiatives over the last decade has been to establish Town Funds These are permanently endowed and work to build the quality of life for all residents in their town The funds support innovative programs and services that help make life safer healthier and more enjoyable for all members of the community in the areas of health and human services recreation community building environmental protection and the arts Each Town Fund is led by a volunteer community board which has a deep understanding of local needs and the nonprofits that address them These committee members oversee fundraising review applications based on published criteria and recommend grants to the foundation s Board of Directors The Foundation for MetroWest currently has funds which benefit the following towns Community Endowment of Lexington Southborough Community Fund Fund for Wellesley To learn more about these funds or if you are interested in setting up a fund to support your town please contact our Director of Town Funds Janet Kern or call 508 647 2260 Want to help further our Town Fund initiative The Foundation is actively seeking a summer intern to help our Director of Town Funds do this and more Learn More Give Now Town Funds Give to Lexington Give to Southborough Give to Wellesley Options for Giving Giving Areas Arts Culture Give to Arts Culture Environment Give to the Environment Family Support Give to Family Support Youth Development Give
