Plugin will not be moving forward to FreeNAS 10 the jail system will still be available and as such you will be able to still use Plex especially if you are using a standard jail and set things up on your own using the package or port system That does mean that it will be a little more difficult to actually install and use Plex and other Plugins for some but since it is a pretty simple process to do using the package system it will not be anything too hard to overcome I started off using the plugins but within a few months had already migrated to using regular jails for everything I have and Plex is probably about the easiest one I have done so far SpoilerTarget Show My FreeNAS Build in Progress as well as in use Supermicro x8dt6 f SAS controller flashed to IT mode 2X Intel Xeon E5640 2X I have been able to get a file uploaded so I know the installation and configuration are ok In the interest of constructive feedback here s what I have seen I installed and added storage via the GUI but I didn t quite understand the source and destination options I initially thought the source and destination was like the Add Storage dialog with source and destination mount points within the jail Oops Good thing it wasn t working for me haha I tried again using the source watch dir within my jail but could understand the destination I tried various iterations of my bucket folder s3 bucket folder bucket folder differentbucket folder etc From my perspective the service was on but not working I m a FreeNAS rube so perhaps I should have been watching a particular logdir other than messages It also wasn t running as a service to verify status I ran s3cmd help and then googled up http s3tools org usage and dropped to the shell I was able to write a text file and then send it to my s3 bucket folder When I tried an mp3 it failed with root s3cmd 1 s3cmd put testfile 1 s3 bucket folder root testfile 1 s3 bucket folder testfile 1 1 of 1 20 of 20 100 in 0s 101 72 B s done WARNING Redirected to bucket region amazonaws com root testfile 1 s3 bucket folder testfile 1 1 of 1 20 of 20 100 in 0s 32 63 B s done s3cmd put FloatOn s3 bucket folder root FloatOn s3 bucket folder FloatOn 1 of 1 1736704 of 6477474 26 in 1s 1418 16 kB s failed WARNING Upload failed aws3 FloatOn Errno 32 Broken pipe WARNING Retrying on lower speed throttle 0 00 WARNING Waiting 3 sec This repeated over and over Initially I suspected that it may have been because of my jail mount so I copied the file into my home within the jail stripped spaces then file extension I haven t collected a packet trace but I can if it would be helpful My takeaway suggestions would be Update OP with link to CLI usage Plugin settings menu needs context and example usage Do I use s3 prefix bucket folder etc Any additional information anywhere will be helpful I didn t see it running in top but I saw Python Is it possible to add it as a service to verify whether it s running The CLI tools were able to help me determine the configuration was good and even put a file If there s a log perhaps a path to it in the GUI settings would help I just kept refreshing my AWS interface and watched iftop for progress Thanks parkedin Aug 19 2014 4 Offline emk2203 FreeNAS Aware Member Since Nov 11 2012 Messages 158 Message Count 158 Likes Received 7 Trophy Points 18 emk2203 Oct 16 2014 Any news on the how to emk2203 HP Microserver N54L 5

When I try to do so I get an SSL connection error so I believe I need to set up an SSL certificate That might explain the flurry of discussion in this thread about certificates As for the events leading up to my reinstalling owncloud I wanted to replace the plex plugin I had installed with the current version From my experiences and after confirmation in the plex discussion thread I realised that in place updates aren t working for plex So I uninstalled the plex plugin and installed the current version When I did so the owncloud plugin stopped working and couldn t be restarted The easiest course of action for me at that

sfl Jan 12 2014 Hi there Apologies if this is obvious to most I m considering owncloud to avoid having my files sit on Mountain View Cupertino servers and the above advice not to port forward to FreeNAS seems sound to me That said not having the files available outside home limits the usage to sync ing when at home only that sounds like it would limit owncloud s usefulness for mobile devices I know I must be looking at this the wrong way Is the only way to make this secure really to setup a VPN not sure how that would work from mobile would love some pointers to references on the topic How do providers like owndrive support iOS if it s not by opening up a port over SSL TLS sfl Jan 12 2014 85 Offline mcolinp Newbie Member Since Jan 30 2013 Messages 81 Message Count 81 Likes Received much easier keep reading for further explanation I did succeed in getting owncloud to work locally and will further investigate opening up true cloud functionality when I am comfortable with my knowledge of the security measures used owncloud solves more than one delima I have had using two OS es Windows Mac for my product design needs Unfortunately the world never quite fully embraced OS X to the level that makes it truly a level playing field and many programs I own for 3D CAD still only function in a Windows environment Which is why I originally started using FreeNAS to have both Read Write access to my data from either OS The issues for lack of a better term I encountered once setup was that Windows search is notoriously horrible when compared to OS X s instant Spotlight and Time Machine is not really setup to backup versions of a Network drive For good reasons I might add as I did look into work arounds So owncloud is the perfect fit to solve these issues since itself creates versions and also includes a stellar search field which performs as I would expect except it is targeting all the files within the own cloud share The other cool thing about owncloud is that it has desktop client apps that can sync documents back to the FreeNAS server So no matter where I make changes Windows Mac it is always up to date I am considering creating a basic tutorial with screenshots of how I went about getting it to work locally There are many things I tried that did not work which has led me to a much simpler approach when it comes to sharing data Mainly that nested datasets tend to create more headaches and trouble than they are worth which has lead to a more basic setup of multiple shares none nested mcolinp Jan 15 2014 86 Offline SRH Member Since Feb 9 2014 Messages 1 question but I notice that 6 0 1 has been superseded by 6 0 2 is there a way to manually update or will I need to wait for the plugin maintainers to release a new update I noticed one or two people asked this in the thread already but I didn t see a clear answer Thanks AMD Phenom II X6 1075T ASUS Crosshair IV Formula 16GB Kingston ECC RAM 6x 2TB WD Green wdidle3 disabled RAIDZ2 entyrion Apr 17
