to join domain failed to lookup DC info for domain domain local over rpc NT STATUS CONNECTION RESET return code 1 The really interesting part is that it fails to lookup DC info for the domain If I run host t srv ldap tcp domain local it returns ldap tcp domain local has SRV record 0 100 389 dc01 domain local ldap tcp domain local has SRV record 0 100 389 dc02 domain local So the SRV records are there and are accessible Just in case anyone asks DNS is working fine names are resolving properly NTP servers on the FreeNAS box are pointing to the DCs and the times are in sync less than a minute difference I have tried manually adding the domain controller and the global catalog server in the web interface I have run through the troubleshooting steps in the manual I m stumped on this one Any help is greatly appreciated mdrisser Nov 13 2015 1 Offline dlavigne FreeNAS Core Team Member Since May 24 2011 Messages 4 989 Message Count 4 989 Likes Received 247 Trophy Points 63 dlavigne Nov 17 2015 Follow the instructions in http doc freenas org 9 3 freenas directoryservice html if the system will not join the domain If you do end up filing a bug post the issue number here dlavigne Nov 17 2015 2 Offline solarisguy FreeNAS Guru Member Since Apr 4 2014 Messages 1 092 Message Count 1 092 Likes Received 63 Trophy Points 48 solarisguy Nov 17 2015 mdrisser said NTP servers on the FreeNAS box are pointing to the DCs and the times are in sync less than a minute difference Click to expand Did you mean under 1 second With NTP they should have the same time solarisguy Nov 17 2015 3 Offline Nick Lutz Member Since Jul 10 2014 Messages 15 Message Count 15 Likes Received 0 Trophy Points 1 Nick Lutz Nov 19 2015 For what it s worth I had similar problems everything looked good but I was unable to get the FreeNAS box to join the domain I fixed this by adding a SDC Secondary Domain Controller with a secondary DNS to my forest I pointed FreeNAS to the secondary domain controller and secondary DNS and things magically started working I can only assume something that only FreeNAS cares about was not in a state that FreeNAS was happy about on the PDC I hope this can help you as there seems to be little support when it comes to active directory and FreeNAS Nick Lutz Nov 19 2015 4 Offline mdrisser Member Since Nov 13 2015 Messages 6 Message Count 6 Likes Received 0 Trophy Points 1 Location Arizona mdrisser Nov 19 2015 solarisguy said Did you mean under 1 second With NTP they should have the same time Click to expand Yes they should have but without delving too far into time and date commands the times shown on the clocks are pretty close to being in
