    introduced to the participants by the Miao Choephelling Settlement officer Karma Singey la which was also the formal inauguration of the first workshop in Arunchal Pradesh And we shifted to the talk Mapping the Tibetan Freedom Struggle by TT Karma Choephel la Member ATPD followed by a question and answer session We were expecting around 35 participants When chairs were finally being occupied there were only 21 participants Afternoon session was dedicated to the participants Understanding the Trainers Role in the Struggle Changing the course of the river It is 2pm and some participants have still not returned from lunch So we had to wait for others This session quickly ended as there were not many responses from the participants After the tea break the next session was for planning the coming six days daily routine and even the physical exercise Trainers participants Karma Singey la and Pema Rinchen Old Homes in charge visited both the sites where we decided to do the work One to create the Martyr Pillar and the other to divert a stream which overflows during the rainy season which results in a flood inside the Old Homes The Old Homes at Miao accommodates about 20

    were boys Girls came late Few trainees were given exceptions not to attend Today s session began with hoisting the Tibetan National Flag and singing the national anthem Training began with group jogging for about 20 minutes followed by a general exercise under Sangye Norbu la a former Special Frontier Force SFF soldier The sesson ended up with singing the uprising song and folding the national flag The first session began exactly at 9am with all those who had come on time Others joined later Today Karma Yeshi la spoke on Activism In The Freedom Struggle giving examples from different activities that had been organised upto now He analysed how individuals in exile can take part in non violent struggle for Tibet The talk was followed by a question and answer session There were some questions remarks and concerns One suggestion from the participants was that their activities though reported to Tibetan media never appeared in the news papers Karma Yeshi la said this will be taken to the concerned publishers Some participants went to see the work at the pillar and the place near the Old Homes Work continues near the Old Homes DAY 1 DAY 2 DAY 3

    large chunk of our workshop time The function was followed by a long prayer session at the settlement monastery We planned to meet after the function but the whole team was not there So we had to postpone it for the afternoon session The heavy rain was drumming the tin roof of the auditorium We screened Hortsang Jigme s talk Return To Tibet To Resolve The Issue the third Heart Of The Matter Friends of Tibet INDIA organised in Dharamshala recently Based on the topic the group was divided into two and a debate was held Later we screened the first part of the documentary by Steve York A Force More Powerful A Century Of Non Violent Conflict The film explains six non violent movements of the last century starting from the Indian Independence movement led by Mahatma Gandhi A discussion on the film will take place tomorrow Responses on the documentary A Force More Powerful Dolma Tsering Taking the non violent resistance of Denmark against the German occupation of their country in 1940 the sabotage of non violent nature can be practiced in Tibet too Norbu Tsering Need for early action for Tibet Wasted enough time from 1959 Did not go to school because my parents said we are returning home soon I am in the late 50s and I cannnot wait like waiting for the rain If our leaders can lead we ll not fail them Sonam Tsomo Return the Registration Certificate RC to the Indian Government with gratitude Then we ll return to Tibet to fight for Rangzen nothing less than that Sangye Norbu Violence as a means in the freedom struggle can be useful But seeing our situation of unpreparedness we need to use it with care In India many Tibetan soldiers died fighting the Pakistan
