  • Future of Storytelling | Elegy for a Dead World
of Dejobaan Games developed last fall Inspired by Scott s love of British verse from the Romanticism era the duo launched a Kickstarter campaign for the game in October and released the final product on Steam this past December Their creation Elegy for a Dead World explores three distant worlds inspired by the work of romantic poetry greats Percy Bysshe Shelley John Keats and Lord Byron In the world of the game players can find themselves evacuating bombed cities or rallying troops for battle as on screen text narrates the scene But the text is incomplete players must channel their inner wordsmiths to fill in the blanks and create their own narrative as they explore otherworldly civilizations The prompts ask players to describe the landscape or moments of action in the game through styles ranging from freeform poetry to rhyming couplets and short stories You don t have to be a professional poet to win the game though of course that wouldn t hurt According to the website Lambe and Scott created the game so that everyone can write Afterward you have the option to share your narrative with other players as well as the chance to browse other players
