    GEEO is a non profit organization dedicated to encouraging and assisting as many teachers as possible to travel abroad and then share their experiences with their students upon their return to the classroom Understanding the world today has never been more important to America s future For most of us that understanding begins at an early age in thousands of classrooms across the United States From the cacophony of mid town Manhattan to the remoteness of western Montana students are looking to their teachers for knowledge about a world that is not yet part of their own lived experience By spending time abroad forming international relationships and exploring overseas environments teachers gain fresh perspectives that deeply enrich their students learning and global awareness GEEO believes encouraging teachers to travel is the best way to equip American youth with the knowledge needed to ensure a strong positive global role for America in the future Our teachers often have the time and the desire to travel we will help to make sure they have the means GEEO will Establish long term relationships in the education community as a well known trusted organization that provides opportunities for teachers to travel volunteer and work

    regular tour operated by a tour company You get to travel with a wonderful group of teachers Our groups are also small averaging 11 people We often have school visits on our trips When schools are closed due to a country s summer vacation we sometimes are able to eat a meal with a group of local teachers and have a Q and A session We make the trip educational for our participants through experiential learning on the trips No long classroom lectures G Adventures provides us with their best most experienced tour leaders who are prepared to share their knowledge with our participants We give you resources to expand your knowledge about your GEEO destination Our book club is a way for you to have a shared educational experience with other members of your group Our Pinterest page is an ever growing source of lesson plans travel tips and interesting articles These resources will give you a basic understanding of customs history culture current events etc before arriving which puts everything into context and allows for a deeper experience We provide structure for bringing your travel experience back into your classroom through our easy to implement Education Program Our lesson plan database is a great and growing collection of examples of classroom action plans from past GEEO participants You will love the Google Earth presentation we share with you Each participant gets a free professional development certificate This way you can advance your careers while on vacation Each trip is a professional development program specifically for educators and because of this many past participants have been able to find grants and funding to subsidize their program expenses All of our programs are discounted to be 5 to 10 lower than the price of equivalent trips run by our tour

    buses and some private vehicles Check the individual itineraries for details 2 Freedom to explore Our trips tend not to include many pre paid meals and activities We want you to have the freedom to make these choices Large group buffet dinners are typically not the best way to learn about a countries cuisine On a typical day on our trips you will arrive to a location be checked into the hotel and have an orientation from your tour leader They will tell you what activities and restaurants they recommend The group will then break up into smaller groups doing the things they want to do Of course our trips do often include major can t miss activities in the price of the trip Each of our trips clearly list these in the What s included section 3 Structure without hassle We also try to take the stress out of travel With GEEO all of your accommodation and transport is arranged for you in advance You will have a tour leader with you escorting you from location to location answering your questions and helping you explore the region Our groups are made up of fellow teachers so you will have 6 to 16 other people with which to share your adventure Before you decide on travelling with GEEO it is important that you read all of the information about the program you are considering To summarize our programs are quite adventurous We use basic no frills accommodation Unless you sign up for one of our comfort class trips The purpose of the accommodation is to provide a safe place for you to sleep Sometimes you will be pleasantly surprised but do not expect luxury The same goes for transportation We use a mix of transportation that gets our guests from
