    for GenR8 Supporting GenR8 Financially Volunteer with GenR8 Contact History GenR8 was established in 2001 as a single team of 5 volunteers to bring entertaining high quality assemblies with a Christian ethos to local primary schools There are now several teams working in Cambridgeshire and North Hertfordshire with further affiliate teams in King s Lynn Melton Mowbray and Gislingham GenR8 became a registered charity in March 2010 and is an associate body of Scripture Union At present GenR8 employs a full time director and a part time administrator At the heart of GenR8 are volunteers There are over 60 volunteers involved with GenR8 all are committed Christians from different denominations in the local community and have experience of working with children in schools or church settings Many volunteers have professional qualifications in relevant disciplines School assembly presentations are the core of GenR8 s work and in a typical term GenR8 presents to over 30 000 children over 100 primary schools GenR8 is involved in many other areas of work supporting schools and churches Find out more about what GenR8 does by browsing the What We Do section above Share this Email Print Twitter Facebook Join the GenR8 Assembly Volunteers Watch

    from the 150 40 000 children schools It s taking them by storm with an exceptionally powerful relevant school message Thank you so much for your inspiring assembly The children always enjoy your visit and the publications you bring The children were all asked to write letters of forgiveness as part of an assessment activity following yesterday s presentation and it was clear how much they had understood As usual it was a very thought provoking and entertaining assembly The children always enjoy your visits and my own daughter who is in Year 4 talked about it when we got home without prompting Many thanks to you and the team who were in school today As always they did a brilliant job Every time the assemblies are really fresh innovative and engaging The children really look forward to the GenR8 assemblies One Head who only brought KS1 in asked if we will return to deliver for KS2 having seen the cross sketch If you would like to find out more about seeing a team in action do get in touch stevew genr8 org Cool Choices January 2016 Two teams visited 17 primary schools 24 sessions with our year six initiative to help students make positive life choices whilst considering a Christian perspective Top marks were received in all the evaluation forms received back which was greatly encouraging the children told me they had had a great afternoon and the class teachers were also positive Thank you so much for yesterday I really think the children got a lot out of it they did some fabulous writing in the afternoon as a result of the experience The TA at school commented that she was really pleased that her 1 to 1 pupil had managed to stay engaged and not have to

    a mum of three young children She remembered one school assembly that spoke loads to her and wanted to join GenR8 because of this and she likes drama She is a member of Trinity Life Church in Royston Caroline North Haslingfield Caroline joined GenR8 in 2003 She joined thinking it was a serious ministry where laughing was forbidden especially during the actual assemblies but soon found that the content of most of the presentations has her rolling in tears of joy Jenny Vaughan Girton As Jenny approached retirement she wondered what new experiences God would lead her into One answer was GenR8 Jenny joined the team in October 2012 and feels privileged to be able to share God s wonderful message with children and adults Enjoyment is a key part of GenR8 and she says whatever your age or ability there is a place for everyone Jenny has many other interests which include bird watching and keeping a very large garden under control Tim North Haslingfield Although not involved directly in the school tours Tim has been active in some of the many events born from the success of GenR8 and has been made an honorary member he s got the T Shirt Married to Caroline a real GenR8er and living in Haslingfield with their two teenage daugthers he is a member of Barnwell Baptist Church and was once described on local radio as Cambridge s answer to Handy Andy Dianne Conway Sawston A key organiser within the GenR8 set up Dianne is a calming influence on any GenR8 team she is part of As an ex teacher Dianne is in a good position to offer insight and advice in the realm of school She also knows everybody in the Sawston area Myra Gaunt Haddenham Our Scottish tiger Myra has grown in confidence enormously over the past couple of years and is a real asset to GenR8 as well as the Ely based Light Life team Myra throws herself into most roles the trouble is she can t get out and is an enthusiastic and key team member She would be outstanding but we can t understand a word of her strange dialect Mandy Jeffery Ickleton Nicknamed The Little Actress at home Mandy made a shaky start when aged 6 she refused to play her recorder at the local music festival Dancing proved more successful and she unwittingly performed her first solo in a Dancing School show being the only person to have got changed in time for the next item She is now regularly to be found dressing up and making an exhibition of herself whenever and wherever possible and if it s for God even better Gavin Howard Cambridge Gavin has worked with children for nearly twenty years firstly as a volunteer children s worker in camps in the U S A and Britain and latterly as a class teacher for years 3 and 4 He is taking a break from teaching and loves having the opportunity to share the Gospel with many who might not otherwise hear it He lives in Cambridge with his wife Lu two children and dog Charlie Jan Newton Linton Jan has seen what teams do from the other side as she is a Supply Teacher Having seen the enjoyment and excitement of children and staff when GenR8 appear the opportunity to get involved was too good to miss Jan is married to Mark and they have two children Rachael and Michael both currently at university When not teaching she enjoys cooking and gardening and various types of music Nicola Grieves Brampton Nicola joined GenR8 in 2008 and is the children s and family worker at All Saints Church Milton As well as looking after a husband and two dogs Nicola finds time to be an XcellR8 team member and Scripture Union holiday leader as a side line Nicola has recently completed her BA in Children and Family Work and Practical Theology at Ridley Hall Cambridge Congratulations Alison Slater Coton Alison Slater joined GenR8 in 2010 although being part of GenR8 was something Alison considered for a number of years previous to this Alison has lived in or around Cambridge all her life She has three fantastic children all of whom have now left home Alison loves talking to children and adults about God Petal White Swavesey Petal re joined GenR8 in 2010 after training at All Nations Christian College on the one year Arts Pathway course Petal thoroughly enjoys her involvement with GenR8 both touring and in rehearsals Petal describes GenR8 as a wonderful set of people to work with and that it s a joy to be able to communicate such profound messages from the bible through the channel of acting puppetry and song And enable children to hear about Jesus Lucinda Sparrow Cambridge Lucinda joined GenR8 in 2011 and is very excited about getting back into performing She has had a lot of fun visiting various schools with GenR8 getting to know the back roads between Cambridgeshire villages and discovering interesting places to have lunch Peter Smith Ely Peter Smith is husband to long term GenR8 team member Jackie Smith A former teacher and current children s work leader Peter is also one of our puppet theatre makers Peter joined GenR8 in 2010 although he has supported GenR8 for a number of years Peter was part of the initial Xcellr8 residential team and currently a member of the Light and Life team in Ely Amanda Last Huntindon Amanda joined GenR8 in 2009 as one of our bookings co ordinators Amanda lives in Godmanchester and has children at the local primary school Amanda s children have always thoroughly enjoyed the GenR8 assemblies so when Amanda was asked to take on the bookings role she was delighted to accept She is amazed at the positive feedback that schools often give when making bookings Daniel Beckett Godmanchester Daniel joined GenR8 in 2011and is the youth pastor at Godmanchester Baptist Church As well as

    as a tutor to trainee teachers and is an Elder at Great Shelford Free Church Her husband Chris is heavily involved in Christian work on a voluntary basis and she enjoys spending time with him and their three grown up daughters and families Kathryn Wright Kathryn lives in Willingham and attends the baptist church in the village She enjoys preaching and leading worship as part of a team During the week Kathryn works for Norwich Diocese as their RE adviser and also supports the teaching of RE through work for Culham St Gabriel s Trust In her spare time Kathryn loves cooking and entertaining and helping to organise events with the local school PTA Jane Magowan Jane lives in Histon and attends Histon Baptist Church She is married to Pete and they have 3 children Currently she is involved is various aspects of church life including pastoral care Sunday School and leading a Toddler Group She trained and worked as a solicitor prior to having children and has enjoyed reusing some of those skills in helping GenR8 to become a charity She enjoys gardening and trying to keep fit with her friends if you are running too fast to chat you are running too fast Christopher Tiffer Robinson Tiffer is Rector of four rural parishes in Rattlesden Suffolk just east of Bury St Edmunds He is married to Amy who has been involved with GenR8 for about 5 years and they have two small children Abigail and Jeremy He trained at Ridley Hall Cambridge and it was while they were there that Amy joined a GenR8 team Tiffer and Amy started an affiliate group during his curacy in North Suffolk which is still going in to schools in that area Tiffer is a Governor of two schools one community and
