  • Employment Programs | CISSCISS
    with others This includes having access to work environments that are open inclusive and accessible It also means having the assistance that may be required to find and maintain employment in both the public and private sectors We believe that all individuals should contribute to their community in meaningful ways and for some this is done by achieving paid employment Goals are created to assist the client and staff in achieving this objective Each individual creates a current resume and files it in our employment filing cabinet allowing individual access Weekly schedules are created to assist in the often challenging task of applying at different locations around the community Ongoing employment workshops are offered to encourage participants looking for work to practice their interview skills and resume writing skills An employment board is created to allow clients to see there week and visually observe their successes around paid employment Clients may choose to participate in one of our employment training programs such as Kyle Kitchen Seniors Lunch Program Melissa Park Catering Program and Java with Friends Coffee House This allows individuals to achieve some of the skills that might be required in obtaining paid work Where to find us Port

    cash receipts photo copying filing and typing documents on the computer Lori has a great sense of humour and can be a bit of a jokester at times Lori has proven herself to be an invaluable part of the Administration team and is a pleasure to work with Program Managers Jeff Battle Program Manager IDS 1 Port Coquitlam 604 685 2267 Jeff started with CISS working on the Academy of Aging project in 2012 He is now chair of the newsletter committee and works with the self advocates group The highlight of working at CISS for Jeff is the energy that the program participants bring to CISS and seeing them achieve their goals In his free time Jeff is an avid reader who also enjoys the outdoors particularly going for hikes and biking Lee Weisgarber Program Manager IDS Port Coquitlam 604 461 7518 Lee began working at CISS in November 2002 She is the chair of the Health Safety Committee Lee is also involved in CISS s employment initiative and oversees the society s staff development Lee says Watching and being a part of people growing learning obtaining paid employment finding new volunteer positions or participating in a way they haven t before is the best part of CISS Lee is a self declared wine connoisseur and when she s not busy working she enjoys making wine with her three sisters Linda Dmyterko Program Manager Inlet Enterprises 604 685 2852 Linda assisted in setting up the first Health and Safety Committee and was chair for about 3 years she has recently rejoined this committee Linda has previously had the honour of being the Self Advocates group facilitator and also the head of CISS newsletter committee It is an exciting time to be employed at CISS Linda is also a Reiki Master and enjoys doing Reiki in her spare time Mary Joy Lovering Program Manager North Vancouver 604 986 1511 Mary Joy is the chair of the Social Committee which works on social activities for staff and clients as well as wellness in the work place Mary Joy believes the individuals who attend CISS day programs are successful in programs and activities of their choice She sees a future without limitations by assisting individuals in finding paid employment new exciting volunteer placements and independence in the community Mary Joy enjoys sewing crafts quilts and dabbling in art and writing Directors CISS Board Members Vinay Nand President Vinay was appointed to the Board of Directors for CISS in late 2010 Currently he is a Change Consultant and Project Manager for the Provincial Heath Services Authority He actively worked to help renovate the new CISS facility while procuring property management services He greatly enjoys his role as a Board Member and values the time he spends within the society Peter Dawe Vice President Peter became a Board Member in 2001 As Vice President Peter oversees the financial aspects of CISS working closely with Shari Being a former Principal in Port Coquitlam Peter brings
