  • Job Training and Placement Services - Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries
    barriers to employment Services are accessible for individuals with disabilities and are focused on placing them on a path to employment in the workforce and independence Participants are recruited on an ongoing basis throughout the year Many are referred through government agencies such as the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services and the Department of Transitional Assistance Others are referred by one stop career centers churches and community groups Participants also come to Goodwill through word of mouth recommendations of family and other community members After an initial screening for skills and interest Individuals are assigned a case manager who helps them develop an individual training and employment plan and choose trainings and supports Case managers meet with participants regularly and participants move through the employment services components at a pace consistent with their individual needs Some training programs are offered in a classroom setting and in those cases have structured schedules For example the First Step Job Readiness training course runs numerous times throughout the year for four weeks Monday Friday from 9am to 3pm and then students are enrolled in a 3 5 week internship The Human Service Employment Ladder Program HELP runs quarterly for eight weeks Monday Friday from 9am 3pm Click here for a flyer on First Step Click here for a flyer on HELP The schedule and duration of training for those in longer term on the job training programs in retail housekeeping and maintenance food service and light assembly are more individualized and services are offered in accordance with an individual service plan Placement services are made available as soon as an individual is coming close to being ready for competitive employment in the community Following placement post placement supports are provided for a year or more with career services available

    Clothing Collaborative for Job Trainees Services for Individuals with Disabilities Ability One Goodwill s Youth Initiative Career Services Boston Career Link Boston Career Link the one stop career center operated by Goodwill offers universal access to a broad range of career counseling services career resources workshops job fairs and special programs to connect job seekers looking to advance or change careers with employers Some individuals come to the career center job ready while others may need more support and assistance Job seekers learn about current openings receive assistance with their job search learn job search techniques and receive instruction on how to apply for a job online Dozens of employers come to Boston Career Link throughout the year for weekly on site recruitment sessions to conduct on the spot interviews with qualified pre screened job seekers Boston Career Link also offers quarterly job fairs for both job seekers and employers Job seeker services include Interview practice resume writing and career counseling workshops A resource library that contains state of the art computers high speed Internet hook up for conducting employer research career exploration job search and access to a laser printer at no charge Print resource materials and job postings to support job seekers in their job search Boston Career Link receives new job listings daily and makes them available to our members in its resource library For employers looking for qualified employees to meet their staffing needs Boston Career Link has a potential applicant pool of more than 5 000 job seekers at any given time and offers employers the following services Referrals of pre screened qualified job seekers for open positions On site recruitment events Help with exploring a variety of business incentive programs including tax credits and workforce training grants For more information please call 617 541

    Movement Dell Reconnect Donations Goodwill depends on the donation of clothing and household goods to fulfill its mission of helping people with barriers to self sufficiency to achieve independence and dignity through work Each year Goodwill collects more than 23 million pounds of donations at its donation centers retail stores and at ZOOTS dry cleaners in eastern and central Massachusetts Your tax deductible donations of goods do much good When they arrive at Goodwill they Are handled sorted packaged shipped and sold by a team that includes job trainees with disabilities and other barriers to self sufficiency who earn a paycheck while being trained for competitive jobs in the marketplace Generate revenue that supports Goodwill s many job training youth and community programs serving thousands of people in eastern and central Massachusetts Provide low cost quality clothing and merchandise that allows people in the community to stretch their dollars Give Boston area job training graduates interview appropriate clothing free of charge through Goodwill s Clothing Collaborative for Job Trainees Are also distributed to dozens of other community based organizations such as Pine Street Inn the region s largest provider of services to homeless individuals to help them achieve their missions Whether it is an individual living with a developmental disability who receives on the job training sorting pin tagging and hanging your donated clothing a single parent able to support her family through her job in one of the Goodwill stores or the 16 year old girl growing up in a family of limited means who is able to find her dream prom dress at one of the Goodwill stores when you donate goods to Goodwill you help to make a very big difference in people s lives Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries is a regisered 501 c 3 non profit
