    a whole Additional grants of 25 000 and above made as a part of the competitive grantmaking process include Strengthening neighborhoods Housing Resources 45 000 to support the agency s 2012 Healthy Neighborhoods Annual Tour of Homes and series of financial workshops aimed at homebuyers and residents in participating Healthy Neighborhoods Rebuilding Together Greater Milwaukee 40 000 to expand the outreach and support for its Housing Plus program which works with longtime homeowners to give them the tools they need to help them stay in their homes The funding will enable it to complete home assessments make free emergency or essential home repairs and accessibility modifications The program will focus on the nine neighborhoods participating in the Foundation s Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative Albright Methodist Church 35 000 to support staff and work underway in the Capitol Heights neighborhood as part of the Foundation s Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative Increasing income and building assets Project RETURN 35 000 to enable the agency to work with 150 low income formerly incarcerated men and women find permanent employment Community Warehouse 25 000 to support a full time operations manager for its new division that develops grows and supports employment initiatives with the business community YWCA of Greater Milwaukee 25 000 for third year support of the Food Share Employment and Training Services Match Program The agency works with homeless jobseekers in Milwaukee and aims to serve 300 people in 2012 CommonBond Communities 25 000 to support an onsite social worker for Bishop s Creek Family Housing Community a development that serves 55 low income families The social worker will help residents with employment services provided through its Advantage Center Strengthening Education Marquette University 25 000 to gather and analyze data related to its Milwaukee Summer Reading Project In 2012 the project will serve 160

    field 324 000 grant supports Penfield Children s Center Behavior Clinic study Milwaukee WI The Greater Milwaukee Foundation s Russell J and Betty Jane Shaw Fund awarded a 324 000 grant to Penfield Children s Center to continue its efforts toward addressing disparities in mental health outcomes for Milwaukee s Latino community The grant supports a three year study by the agency s Behavior Clinic that will look at the impact of addressing mental health issues early on particularly in young children living in poverty Since 2003 the Behavior Clinic has worked with low income parents in Milwaukee to help them manage their child s tantrums hyperactivity and other emotional or behavioral issues In addition to the services the clinic provides it also serves as a training program for graduate students in the department of counselor education and counseling psychology at Marquette University s College of Education In 2011 the clinic served 264 children under age 5 for aggression tantrums hyperactivity autistic like behaviors and other issues Penfield Children Center s Behavior Clinic represents an unparalleled collaboration among service providers addressing the mental health concerns of our most vulnerable community members our children said Jeannie Fenceroy a Foundation senior program officer and administrator of the Shaw Fund The Foundation has supported the Behavior Clinic for the past three years most recently through a grant that funds a part time bilingual paraprofessional position About the Russell J and Betty Jane Shaw Fund The Shaws established their fund in 2000 to support medical research on childhood disease About the Greater Milwaukee Foundation The Greater Milwaukee Foundation is a family of more than 1 000 individual charitable funds each created by donors to serve the local charitable causes of their choice Grants from these funds serve people throughout Milwaukee Waukesha Ozaukee and Washington

    from a 675 000 pool resulting in the total of more than 1 8 million The Greater Milwaukee Foundation Brewers Community Foundation The Ceres Foundation Faye McBeath Foundation United Way of Greater Milwaukee and several Foundation donor advised funds contributed to the pool As president of our community s foundation I want to thank everyone who generously donated to help our neighbors as well as our Match Day partners said Ellen Gilligan president and CEO of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation It is wonderful to see the compassion and commitment of our community Highlights from the 19 hour event The first gift a total of 50 to The Cathedral Center was made 2 minutes after the event started at 5 a m The heaviest volume in terms of giving activity was between 7 and 8 a m and 7 and 8 p m A total of 5 023 donations were made through matchdaymke org on March 8 The Milwaukee Rescue Mission raised the most of the participating agencies 510 individual donors contributed 180 634 The three food programs Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin Food Pantry of Waukesha County and the Hunger Task Force raised a total of 296 351 The 16 participating shelters raised a total of 640 603 Through contests run on Facebook and the Match Day website a total of 76 people won prizes generously donated by the Milwaukee Brewers and Time Warner Cable The Brewers Community Foundation Time Warner Cable Clear Channel Outdoor The Business Journal Serving Greater Milwaukee Big Shoes Network the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel 88 9 Radio Milwaukee 414 Radio Network Heritage Printing and the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee generously contributed in kind support and prizes given to donors who participated in Match Day Participating Nonprofits Center for Veterans Issues Community Advocates Daystar Feeding America Eastern

    tough for many individuals and families in our community said Ellen M Gilligan the Foundation s president and CEO We know from the organizations that we support that too many people are continuing to struggle to meet the most basic needs that many of us take for granted With Match Day we want to leverage support from the community and increase the capacity of those nonprofits to meet the demand for their services Beginning February 17 and on each day leading up to the online event on March 8 the public will have the chance to learn more about each of the 19 nonprofits participating in Match Day Online giveaways will also be featured as part of the countdown on Facebook Information on each nonprofit will be featured daily via the Foundation s Facebook and Twitter pages and through www matchdaymke org Each gift made by a donor on March 8 2012 will be proportionately matched The Greater Milwaukee Foundation and several individual donors and area funders including the Brewers Community Foundation The Ceres Foundation Faye McBeath Foundation and United Way of Greater Milwaukee have already pledged 675 000 toward the match pool for that day The Brewers Community Foundation Time Warner Cable Clear Channel Outdoor The Business Journal Serving Greater Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel have generously contributed in kind support and donor prizes To create Match Day the Greater Milwaukee Foundation partnered with Razoo an online platform that simplifies giving Razoo also offers training to help nonprofits build robust online fundraising abilities to help strengthen their donor base for years to come Before undertaking Match Day Razoo helped create two similar days in Minnesota netting 24 million in donations for 4 000 nonprofits For more information on Match Day visit www MatchDayMKE org and be sure to
