    of New Private Sector Banks in India An In depth Study Deba Bijaya Mishra Abstract The economic development of any country largely rests on banks Hence only the effective banking system could contribute to the process of growth in a positive way Private banking activities have been in existence since past in the form of money lending and these are the foundation of economic manifestation of the country But at some point of time due to crisis and lack of coordination between banking policy and proper control of the authority the growth of the banking system was almost obstructed Globalization was another positive step which brought transformation in the then banking system Especially there were significant changes in the prevalent products and services of the banks which the customers avail themselves of and in consequence the banking sector witnessed noteworthy change In response to the recommendation of the Narasimham Committee in July 1991 the RBI 8 banks are set up after fulfilling the formalities which are known as New Private Sector Banks The present study is made to find out the overall performance of the new private sector banks in respect to profit margins and factor responsible for it Keywords

    Abreham Amanuel Yemane M LAKSHMIPATHI RAJU R MADHUSUDANA Raju Abstract The issue of corporate governance has long been ignored in developing economies like Ethiopia This study examines the impact of corporate governance mechanisms on the performance of Ethiopian insurance Companies using a panel data model for the period covering from 2009 to 2013 Both descriptive and regression analyses were conducted on the selected samples of 10 insurance companies out of 15 operating in the market The findings from the study indicated that board meeting and board compensation had statistically significant positive impact on return on equity ROE of the Ethiopian insurance Industry But the results failed to show any significant impact of board size audit committee and gender diversity on the proxy of companies performance Moreover the Size of the companies had a significant positive impact on ROE Hence the study recommends that efforts to improve the corporate governance system of insurance companies in Ethiopia should focus on the number of meetings to be held by directors the level of board compensation as well as on the size of firms and these in turn improve the performance of the insurance companies Finally the study also recommends the participation of all

    Vol 6 No 15 2015 Gohar Effect of Capital Structure on Firms Financial Performance Empirical Evidence in Case of Construction and Materials Cement Sector of KSE 100 Index Madiha Gohar Abstract The study is done to explain the impact of capital structure on firms financial performance in Construction and Material Cement Sector of Karachi Stock Exchange The data was collected from the annual reports of eight listed firms for the period of six years from 2009 to 2014 The balanced penal regression and correlation were used for analysis The almost negative correlation studied between all variables of the study The five models were regressed with five dependent and four independent variables All models are significant but the results explained that the capital structure is not related with firms financial performance Also financial performance of the sector is not influenced by the controlling variable size of the firm and it may conclude that the optimal capital structure may not have such importance in this sector With the help of this study the finance mangers can make better decisions and researches can create new themes for the future researches Keywords Capital Structure Firms Financial Performance Relevancy and Irrelevancy Karachi Stock Exchange KSE
