  • Gary Not Afraid - Indian National Finals Rodeo Hall of Fame
    2014 INFR Hall of Fame Gary Paul Not Afraid was born April 13 1941 He was a member of the Crow Tribe He was the son of Cedric and Julia Williamson Not Afraid Gary died in a car accident on May 21 1983 at the age of 42 leaving behind 6 children Dannelle Hyatt Mike Not Afraid Michelle Armajo April Toineeta Julie Cummins and Randy Not Afraid He was an ambassador to Indian Rodeo traveling all across the United States and Canada promoting the sport of rodeo always willing to help his fellow cowboys advance their skills and making many friends along the way that still remember him to this day Gary was the 1976 Indian World Champion Calf Roper obtaining his title at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City Utah His legacy lives on through his children grandchildren and great grandchildren he would be proud today to know they carry on the cowboy way of life At this year s Finals he has 6 descendants competing for their chance at an INFR title 2015 Inductees Dave Best Sam Bird Kelvin Fox Carole Jackson Holyan Jerry Small 2014 Inductees Gary Not Afraid CL Johnson Larry Condon Archie Becenti Lyle

  • CL Johnson - 2014 Indian National Finals Rodeo Hall of Fame
    1982 he won the South Dakota State High School Rodeo bull riding championship 1984 he joined the P R C A and in 1985 he won the INFR Bull Riding Championship in Albuquerque New Mexico He was a member of the Bull Riders Only where he won and competed against some of the best bull riders in the country C L was fearless at life and never thought twice about getting on any bull including Bodacious CL let his riding do the talking I m not trying to be cocky but I am fairly good at it In November of 1988 he married Leslie Clifford and in 1992 they welcomed a daughter Josey C L was an excellent horseman and in 1989 he began his stuntman career in the movie Dances with Wolves He began training his own stunt horses in which he used in over 20 films movies T V shows In 1999 he was inducted into the Stuntman Hall of Fame He was proud of his heritage he was known as the bull riding Lakota Stuntman from South Dakota C L died on January 9 1999 in a car accident C L is missed but never forgotten by

  • Larry Condon - 2014 Indian National Finals Rodeo Hall of Fame
    off into the Horizon on June 4 2014 He is survived by his Son Jeff Condon family Siblings Alice Best Leonard Condon Henry Condon Teresa Sam Kathy Sirois Margie Hutchinson Larry was born and raised in Kartar Valley near Omak Washington to Margaret Dick Condon and Smith Condon From Kartar Valley to all across the United States and Canada rodeoing with likes of Deb Copenhaver Donnie Gay Marty Wood Winston Bruce Jim Shoulders etc from Madison Square Garden San Antonio Little Rock Salinas Pendleton Cheyenne Calgary Larry was the 1975 WSIRA Bull riding Champion and made the first three INFR S placing 2nd at the first two and injured at the third He rode in the Indian Rodeos when they first organized the regions In 1962 Larry became the first Indian Bull rider to qualify for the RCA National Finals Rodeo which is now known as the WNFR He won and held the highest scoring ride at the Calgary Stampede which stood for many years Eight seconds simply was not long enough for us but we were blessed to witness all of those glorious 8 second lifetimes 2015 Inductees Dave Best Sam Bird Kelvin Fox Carole Jackson Holyan Jerry Small

  • Archie Becenti - 2014 Indian National Finals Rodeo Hall of Fame

  • Lyle Cochran - 2014 Indian National Finals Rodeo Hall of Fame
    Montana an Assiniboine named Wamni Wast e and meaning Good Eagle and was raised by his grandparents Roy and Rose Long Knife Lyle has been involved in Rodeo for over 50 years In 1976 Lyle was the 1st All Around INFR Champion and 1st Team Roper Champion with Sam Bird Lyle contributes his success to his family friends fans and most important the outstanding horses that he has been able to ride though out his career Lyle says He has always felt like he was on one of the best horses in the arena His fine horses have helped him win championships in the UIRA IRCA NRA MPRA PRCA and various Team Roping Associations Lyle has won 47 saddles several hundred buckles trophies and numerous awards throughout his career Lyle wants to give a special thanks to his wife Marty for always standing by his side and working so hard to help him with his success Lyle wants to mention that he has met so many great and dedicated cowboys and cowgirls thru the years Lyle takes his hat off to all the great cowboys that he lived the Sport of Rodeo with 2015 Inductees Dave Best Sam Bird Kelvin

  • Jim Jacobs - Indian National Finals Rodeo Hall of Fame
    in South Dakota Colorado and Houston Jim has won the INFR Bareback Riding Championship 6 times in his career During his rodeo years he also raised cattle and horses and worked for the Golden West Phone Company and is now enjoying retirement after 36 years of service Jim has traded in his bareback rigging and spurs for a fishing pole and fins as he heads south of the border as

  • Bud Connelly - Indian National Finals Rodeo Hall of Fame
    hand as he could rope wrestle steers and ride broncs with the best of them His versatility and skill set whether it is in the arena or out on the range were honed growing up on the Connelly Ranch located on the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana This is never more evident than his efficiency as a pickup man in the rough stock events saving many a rider Today most rodeo contestants specialize in a single event but Bud competed in five events in multiple circuits winning year end awards and all around titles in the same year 60 years this outstanding athlete has been competing in rodeo A strong competitor in High School in 1951 Bud won the all around in the Montana High School Rodeo Association In 1953 he qualified for the 5th Annual National High School Rodeo Finals in Spearfish SD Bareback A 16 time holder of the Indian Rodeo Cowboys Association Championship title together with 7 more titles in the United Indian Rodeo Association He also won an all around bareback and saddle bronc championship in the Northern Rodeo Association in addition Bud qualified for the Indian National Finals 7 times This Great Champion has won over 400 rodeo belt buckles and 80 plus saddles throughout his illustrious career A past president of the United Indian Rodeo Association Bud was recently inducted into the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame February 2 2012 in the Living Legacy category and the Montana Indian Athletic Hall of Fame on December 12 2009 Bud retired from the rodeo game hazing his last steer at the INFR in 2008 Bud s legacy in Indian rodeo is still very much evident in his son s and all the rodeo hands that he has influenced throughout the years Many who are now participants at

  • Ervin Watson - Indian National Finals Rodeo Hall of Fame
    Tribal Range Rider he believes this is where he honed his skills to rope His dream always was to be a successful calf roper A family friend the late Charlie Dog Sleep inspired Ervin to take up calf roping Ervin began to practice calf roping in the late 50s with a relative Joe BigKnife Ervin started competing in amateur rodeos around Montana Ervin was fortunate to acquire good calf horses beginning with one Sorrel horse which belonged to Lisa His late brother Harold Watson was instrumental in training and starting this horse in calf roping which gave him confidence In the early 70 s Bud Connelly of Browning approached Ervin to inform him that they were going to have an All Indian Rodeo in Browning This was the beginning of the All Indian Circuit In 1979 he was the INFR World Champion Calf Roper He s proud of his sons grandsons Eric Paul Marty Preston and Mervin Whitford Jr 5 years old and great grandson Marty 6 years old who are all following his path on the rodeo trail Eric C is the 1985 INFR World Champion Team Roper and 2010 IIFR All Around World Champion At 72 Ervin is
