    is used to build inclusive prosperity from business startups and growth new employment and a rising standard of living ICT is used to address social problems and to enrich the local quality of life Do you think that city of the big data is the next step for those smart cities which already open data enough Why and why not Big Data analysis has the power to reveal hidden patterns in the life of a city which can uncover opportunities to improve how the city works They may be commuting patterns by time and date or how traffic relates to weather conditions or how power and communications demand changes depending on whether or not young people are in school City planners can use this information to help the city respond faster and more effectively to the demands of its residents and businesses The data itself only creates the opportunity it is up to leadership to make wise choices based on what it learns Why city must open data and make good use of these data what is the necessity or importance Which cases you have seen is the most interesting or special One of the more interesting examples I have seen is in New Taipei City The city s Research Development and Evaluation Commission has introduced a system called Hot Spots Analysis It draws on posts to the city s Web portals the logs of the emergency response center and traffic on social networks to identify issues that raised frequently by citizens are not being properly addressed Monthly meetings of the heads of all city departments review known and new Hot Spots and determine what actions the city should take to solve them Going one step beyond the decision makers examine why the problem was not being addressed whether a

    Contacts Home Login Email Print Current Press Coverage 2014 2013 2012 2011 2010 2009 2008 2007 2006 2005 2004 and Earlier Press Coverage 2015 ICF Board Meets Launches New Project Published Friday June 26 2015 Meeting on Toronto on June 9 the Intelligent Community Forum s Board considered a new project to benefit its member communities around the world The Connections program develops links between members who provide each other with strategic advice and develop joint economic development programs One of the most successful to date is an alliance between the City of Eindhoven 2011 Intelligent Community of the Year and City of Waterloo 2007 Intelligent Community of the Year Developed through teleconferences and the exchange of trade missions the alliance is building soft landing programs to help companies in each community expand into the other and identifying collaboration opportunities between their well respected universities The partners have also initiated discussions with the city of Taipei Taiwan which may lead to an international economic development triangle Eindhoven Mayor Rob van Gijzel who chairs the Board proposed the ICF develop a Roadmap document that can guide other communities in establishing their own international partnerships The Roadmap will recommend reasonable expectations likely
