  • Daring Fireball Demolishes a Particularly Silly Article | Irreal
Macalope s merciless mocking of those journalists Over at Tech Crunch Jon Evans has a particularly silly article warning us that we shouldn t use Apple s products Why Well because Apple makes it hard to jailbreak iOS devices and sometime in the future they might decide despite their history of protecting their customers privacy to get in bed with the NSA and other snoopers and then where would we be I couldn t begin to adequately mock this nonsense but fortunately I don t have to John Gruber over at Daring Fireball does an excellent and entertaining job of debunking it for me The Macalope hasn t yet turned his antlers on Evans but I m sure he will and I m sure the result will also be amusing There are probably good arguments for why someone might prefer to use Android devices over iOS devices but Evans sure hasn t given us one If you want to make the argument at least be serious Update before publication That didn t take long Here s the Macalope with a righteous takedown of Evans silliness This entry was posted in General and tagged Apple Bookmark the permalink Artur Malabarba Tells it Like it is What s Up With the Cat Search for Recent Posts Elisp Summary Emacs for Prose FISA Abandons the Fourth Amendment Again Blogging with Org Mode and Nikola How to Keep Emacs Running Across an X Crash Recent Comments Mike Zamansky on Blogging with Org Mode and Nikola Phil on How to Keep Emacs Running Across an X Crash Sebastian Christ on European Quotation Marks NoonianAtall on A Hyper Key on Any USB Keyboard Kris on An Example of Why Reproducible Research Matters Links Useful Emacs Commands Archives April 2016 March 2016 February 2016 January 2016 December

  • Drag and Drop Into an Org Buffer | Irreal
the Finder Ctrl clicking on an item brings up a menu What you have to do is drag it over to the Org buffer and then press control before you release the mouse button Kitchin s code was developed on a Mac and according to the comments has some problems with Linux machines If you experience any trouble you might want to try abo abo s drag and drop solution If you re interested check out his demonstration video I really liked that when he first demonstrated it but as I recall there was some indication that it wouldn t work on a Mac so I never tried it After reading Kitchin s post I downloaded and tried abo abo s org download to see how it compared to Kitchin s solution I had a couple of glitches but to be fair I didn t do more than a cursory trial I could have probably resolved my problems with a bit of code reading On the other hand abo abo s solution allows you to grab images from Web pages while Kitchin s code works only with images in the file system Between the two solutions you should find one that works for you and meets your needs This entry was posted in General and tagged Emacs Org mode Bookmark the permalink Will We Never Learn The Washington Post Gets it Right Search for Recent Posts Elisp Summary Emacs for Prose FISA Abandons the Fourth Amendment Again Blogging with Org Mode and Nikola How to Keep Emacs Running Across an X Crash Recent Comments Mike Zamansky on Blogging with Org Mode and Nikola Phil on How to Keep Emacs Running Across an X Crash Sebastian Christ on European Quotation Marks NoonianAtall on A Hyper Key on Any USB Keyboard Kris
