see that Afrezza will be offered in 4 and 8 unit cartridges But one article says the patient will effect the amount delivered Does anyone know if you can get a lower dose possibly by how deeply you inhale Follow Ups Re Afrezza What s the point Al Gordon 17 00 20 2014 11 07 0 Re Afrezza Henry Cunningham 07 40 57 2014 10 08 0 Post a Followup

have not had a single adverse event So now I will pull out an inhaler and desperately inhale insulin powder before eating Real cool Also if I inject 12U of insulin I am getting the effect of 12U of insulin If I inhale insulin powder Afrezza the effective dose could vary by a huge margin depending on the conditions of my lungs how deeply I inhale timing coughing and other factors over which I have no control The ridiculous part is that I will still have to inject long acting insulin so now I have two delivery systems to deal with one accurate and the other a shot in the dark Most troubling about Afrezza is the effect of inhaling powder into my lungs 3 4 times a day for decades Lungs do not like any particulate and inhaling Afrezza seems like a close cousin to smoking The longest trial has been 52 weeks revealing nothing about long term effects on the lungs I could smoke for 52 weeks and never understand the long term consequences of smoking On top of being less convenient less dose accurate more socially awkward still requiring injections and potentially damaging to lungs it costs

consuming and frustrating We were thinking that dosing with Afrezza then getting the fast acting insulin in her bloodstream quickly might be a solution We don t want to crash so we wondered if you might be able to take an approximate 1 2 hit of the 4 unit We haven t used an Endo for years having seen good and bad ones Her GP takes care of her A1c

the Dexcom GA CCM and still has run away highs approaching 300 occasionally At those times we would hope to use Afrezzia to get the fast acting insulin into her bloodstream fast and stop the momentum more quickly Since once it gets up it can be a battle to lower it We re not considering it for daily use just as a quick acting tool on those rare occasions that

  • Re: Afrezza - What's the point?
for the explanation Henry So your wife is using Afrezza only for a quick hit to bring down a high and only to be used on rare occasions is that correct How much faster is Afrezza than a fast acting injectible insulin such as Humalog And certainly my comments on the potential for dose inaccuracy and long term lung damage from inhaling powder several times a day do not apply
