Prior to the home glucometer becoming readily available patients never complained of how they felt when their blood sugar was high but once they had glucometers their psychological concern over high levels created a psychologically mediated sensation of feeling unwell with hyperglycemia It is possible that your sensations really just manifest a concern over unstable glucose levels rather than genuine physical side effects of unstable glycemia While it is true that patients who have been treated with insulin for an extended period may experience symptoms of hypoglycemia at a higher blood sugar level than healthy individuals so that a Marathon runner can have a blood sugar level of 40 mg dl and just feel tired while an insulin dependent diabetic could be unconscious at that level the odd sensations that you report should not occur at the blood sugar levels you cite In any case suicide via insulin overdose is not a sensible way to escape this problem which deserves further medical and psychological investigation Especially in diabetics it is difficult to predict a lethal dose of insulin so you may just wake up from your attempt profoundly brain damaged which would hardly improve your situation At autopsy people who

am low I am far less disturbed then being even a little elevated On occasion I may have minimal or just mild symptoms elevated but I am suggesting what happens more often I know diabetics that walk around with elevated levels regularly and don t suffer with what I do They essentially have no symptoms I ve thought to myself It seems like my whole central nervous system is screwed up as the symptoms are very complex and effecting both my physical well being and emotional state I really don t believe it has anything to do with using human insulin as opposed to pig insulin but I just pray I don t have permanent damage from the diabetes I can have decent days but its not easy The endo I went to see didn t even suggest anything you guys are mentioning My question is really who should be qualified to make a diagnosis of my problem that can hopefully be corrected other then relying on an elusive transplant FWIW I really don t care where the levels are as long as I feel well and don t have symptoms I understand that diabetes can do far more damage
